ive done 25,000 hard miles in the last year kicking the nuts out mine. just dont rush the box, make sure the clutch is right down! and regular gearbox oil changes and it'll be fine
ONLY use the genuine sparkplugs, they dont like anything else in my experiance, genuine ones are around £12 each though if i remember correctly
think its probably more likely to be the leads rather than the coil pack, ive never had a coil pack go on any 172 ive worked on but had to replace...
cams will give 15bhp if mapped properly, filter wont give anything, exhaust 2 or 3 bhp top end power if your lucky your probably looking at an extra 15-17bhp which puts you at about 195-197bhp IF the car puts out the standard 180bhp to begin with!
paint job's a bit rough up close but its going back in to get a few bits sorted out, still its pretty good for £400! my mate done all the prep though, just got a guy to paint it
aye alan said the other night, my day off was ment to be tomorrow but it got changed and i totally forgot about the meet! f**k!
fast, its not bad, about the same as my 172 really, ive got more power and more weight but more torque. it really lacks torque
got proper race suspension, far to...
mate bought a civic 1.5 and put a 1.8 16v in it (not the integra engine but the civic coupe engine i beleive) 170odd bhp standard for a bit of cheap fun
decided for a bit of a laugh to paint it the spoon colours! were still waiting on more stickers coming but here it is so far!
Going on the...
we fitted motorbike carbs to a 1600 8v gsi nova, it made 160bhp @ the fly with headwork and a wild camshaft, made up a custom manifold for it, the advantage off running them from a cost saving point of view is you dont need a standalone ecu etc ours ran without engine management! hardly any...
sounds like a bottom ball joint.
renault only sell it with the complete bottom arm but apparently some factors can get them seperate, but im not a fan of non genuine parts.
white, bright white but when turned off they are blue.
so they glow the correct colour but arn't the "normal" colour when turned off, so why didnt he fail it for my diadem indicator bulbs?! they glow the correct colour but are blue when off.
think he was just being a knob to be honest!
ive got PIAA platnum white sidelights in my car now their website says "E-Marked for European road use"
so does this mean these are legal for road use in the UK and should pass an mot?! my car just failed on them didnt think id have to change them because they were e-marked but ohh well!
re...
my 172 doesnt have the storage tray under the passengers seat and has a cable coming from the floor and just sitting there (assuming this is the fancy £75 cd changer cable?)
in the back of the head unit there is 4 plugs, the big black one (speakers?) the big white one (power?) then a yellow...
matt sells the kit for £1500 (or it was at the time i was looking into it) but then remember to do the job properly, on top of that you need to add an aux belt kit, cambelt kit, oil, filter, plugs, gearbox oil, the list could be endless.
as said best bet if your not buying something else is...
For £150 theres no way he could have used genuine parts and done tensioners and imo its the tensioners that are the problem when it comes to snapped belts, not the actual belt its self, so bit of a waste of £150 tbh
i get 32mpg out my 172 every day, thats driving nice and easy about town and when ive got my girlfriend in the car and hammering its wee nuts in when im out for a blast which is quite regularly!
good thing about these cars is you get the fuel economy of your average petrol car when taking it...
my black diamond drilled and grooved front disks on my 1.2 cracked to f**k and failed an mot.
dont bother upgrading rear disks, the renault ones although costing £190 odd come with the bearings presed in etc saves hastle! plus because they last forever drilled disks would crack way before they...
theres play in the track rod ends so im replacing them
the engine mounts are worn and need replacing so im replacing them
the front dampers are past their best so im replacing them
after 5years the suspension bushes will be starting to wear so im replacing them too
might as well do the top...
my old 1.2 16v was rr'd at 84bhp, could probably have got 1 or 2bhp more from it if i maped it.
as said above mine used to pop bang and stink like f**k with the decat was brilliant lol
