ive been the coilovered route on a road car and to be honest now ive got eibachs on my 172 there just as good handling wise on the road, well nearly as good!
cant see cup dampers been that much different to warrent changing them from good standard dampers, but if yours are gone then might as well change them for cup items.
what was the difference between the 2?
fitted my old apex kit from my 1.2 16v to a mates car the other day front was perfect and then it came to the rear, seems the rubber top mounts for the rear on the apex are different from the standard ones, and i appear to have lost the onces supplyed with apex, WOOPS!!
so hes running about...
internal wise not much you can do without spending thousands.
theres no need to rush the box, they can handle the power just fine they just dont like being rushed.
as said changing the gearbox oil regularly (i do it once a year) with good stuff will also help.
ud have to take the splitter off to lower the front as low as you can on the FK's and even at that the bumper wud probably still touch the ground lol
My silverline X FK's are sitting in the garage looking at me every time i go in :( lol
wished i had saved the 7k i spent on buying my 172 and put a TB 172 engine in my black dynamique lol
that looks spot on, id leave the dynamique back bumper on it, it suits it!
i had 16" turinis on my 1.2 16v..... for a week! then went back to 15's. it handled pants on 16s.
after having my 172 on 15s for a test, im already saving up for some speedline 2118's in 15"!!!
people who want a clio generally want an economical one to go to the shops etc so just go for the basic 1.2 16v or dci (plus most young people want cheap insurance so 1.2 16v is perfect)
for the others that fancy a fast clio they bought a 172/182.
one of these vs airbox and ITG, whats the views?
not that fussed on power gains just dont want power losses, looks like it could be pretty good at preventing heat soak but not 100%
go to parts dept at renault they'll change it for you but its easy
just get a house key or something like that and stick it thru the loop on the key and use it to lever the cover off, switch battery and slide it back on, job done.
gearboxes are apparently a bit shoody, better with a dci80 imo, and if needed remap it to over dci100 power.
afaik its just a dci80 with a different turbo? and possibly injectors?
Re: eibatchs pics please
ive been the coilovered route and to be honest would only do it for looks, yeah the car handled fukin awesome but not a million times better than my sportline'd 172 which feels just a bit to soft but it doesnt let go.
think ill get a set of koni adjustables for this...
dealers are 100x better in my experiance than renault, my 172 came from a toyota dealer, granted i payed for the privillage of the service, but never had service like it! even arnold clark toyota are awesome!
never raced one in the 172 but my mate had one when i had the 1.2 and i used to reel...
i like they GSi's actually especially in that fancy blue colour, its the wheels i like the most actually, sets them off well!
never saw a standard one go but heard one with a mental exhaust and dump valve scream past me sounded good n looked quick!
i drove my coilovered one for the last time 2 weeks ago before it went, it was so slow but a hoot to drive! never smiled so much going down a backroad. it had the old smashed out cat jobbie too coz i couldnt find a decat for it lol
then took 172 a run n shouted "oh ya b*****d" when i floored...
