For that I'd expect more, chop out all that metal and replace plus anything underneath that's gone will need replacing to weld to, 1000 a side I'd be budgeting minimum
Mine wasn't, same as my 172 so I lathered it up when I treated the inner sills. Which had surface rust in them too, worse than the phase 1, so basically get your rear cards out and check imo
Diff float will cause excess heat which will lead to the oil changing colour and darkening so that was probably the issue. The welded clip will do nothing to sort the play in the diff and fact it popped again and took the welds with it means those diff bearings are proper fucked

Concentrate on the house move matey, the car will work, it's basically done. I think a diffuser may sway my opinion on the rear end aswell so I vote do it!
And get those wheels sorted, disgraceful ??
