very dangerous, it could pop off in an impact and your harnesses would do nothing for you, or as said if the brace gets pulled back it pulls the harnesses with it and crushes you!
132,000 miles and it still loves the limiter daily.... lol
your woried about your engine?!?!?! mine wouldnt let me go over 3,000 revs and took 4 hours to get to 30mph yesterday all day with the engine management light on, wiggled a couple of wires about today and all is well lol
thats just clutch abuse lol i can make mine do that but i dont since wheelspin when launching it from junctions etc has cost me a gearbox before, be careful!
looks good mate, get the fuel rail cover or what ever its called polished up like they do on the 2.0 16v's will look much better! could also get the engine mount done if you could be bothered lol
sounds like when my brake caliper was sticking, do you get more brake dust on one side compaired to the other front wheel?
remove the 2 caliper bolts (well 1 will do just loosen the other) and then clean and lubricate the sliders.
then press the brake pedal to the floor (it will go right the...
out of 8 of my mates who are all 17 and 18 everyone of us has a car, 5 of us saved up bought and insured our cars ourselfs. the other 3 have all been given or bought a car.
only 3 of them have had a crash, and guess what 3 it is?!! yep the 3 that got the cars from mummy and daddy
i done mine myself well with the help of a mate took us about 4 or 5 hours i think cant remember exactly. was a lot easyer than i thought it would be!
be sure to change the clutch cable while your at it, i thought my new clutch was nice and springy and light untill i changed the cable now its...
yep sounds like the clutch is slipping, weird at that millage tho! has the bite point got pretty high?
mine was mega fun when it was slipping nail it from a standing start and it didnt go anywhere lol
my battery went on my 2002 1.2 16v 3 days ago!
£60 for some fancy Calcium thing from halfords and all is good again lol couldnt beleive the difference it made to my tunes actually lol kicks out much more bass now and goes much louder before it starts to distort (no more taking the piss out my...
you sure its deffo the clutch, mine lasted untill 115k and all the high millage ones ive saw are still on factory clutch.
you sure its not just a clutch cable or something silly or has the box went and covered the clutch in oil?
just remember its only nuts and bolts, nothing can go "wrong" that cant be fixed easy if you get stuck come on here and ask and you will get plenty help
looks like its the 1.2 box im using then.
what else can be used on this engine from bigger engines apart from the 2.0 16v throttle body, if anything else?
1.6 16v lightned and ballanced bottom end, cams, headwork, exhaust manifold, decat etc
before it starts, this isnt a 172 vs 1.6 conversion question, and i already know all the details and would rather not hear them again!
i was like that too, 6 months ago the most work i had done was change a wheel lol got fed up paying people to fit parts and fix my car and relying on people so i got a haynes manual and 6 months later ive just dropped my engine down, changed the gearbox and bolted it all back together.
i had...
for my engine i got quoted £900 for a full standard rebuild,
£1800 for full rebuild with lightned and ballanced bottom end, stage3 headwork, reprofiled cam and remap
probably best to save money, spend £30-£35 on some good tools and do it yourself, very straight forward, rear takes 10 mins if your just changing springs and front say an hour to an hour if its your first time
this way, if you decide to change the dampers in the future you can save money and...
ah right so i can use my brand new driveshaft too.
what box would you recommend for the 1.6 16v fred, suppose i could use the 1.2 box untill it goes (if it goes!) but whats your thoughts?
got a couple of questions on the gearboxes for the above engines.
firstly before i go anywhere can both gearboxes be used on both engines? (eg. can you use a 1.2 box on a 1.6 or the other way about?)
secondly if the answer to the above question is yes, can the 1.2 16v box handle the...
id miss the extra torque that the 1.6 16v has over the 1.4 16v.
the 1.6 16v is more a nippy low down power engine rather than a screaming high reving engine id say, but nothing that cant be sorted with a few mods.
were putting a 1.6 16v in mine Summer 2007 with headwork, cams, s/s exhaust...
after being in a couple of 172s and 182s i wouldnt swap my 1.2 for one as i dont consider it the better car, only faster. maby if i was in a heavily modified one like my 1.2 16v then i might change my mind but none of them gripped, stopped, or felt as planted as mine does.
the standard ride...
saw a 172 cup near stirling services on sunday night you were waiting to come onto the roundabout as i was going round it, was a nice shiney blue one, anyone from here!?
nice mate, tho dont put turinis on it, everyones got them or had them! even myself lol
190bhp from just a remap? doubt it more likely 180-182bhp (since it likely wont have had the "standard" 180bhp anyway to start with
