I think that is the point with some of them, especially the NSX-R. The NSX was their benchmark, and they wanted to see how it compares to the latest machinery. The modified 360 is a bit of an irrelevance, but they use it quite a bit! I suppose the Amuse 370 is to test if a 'regular' car can...
