@midge I'll see what I can do but I'll have to strip the looms back again as I wrapped them all after the splicing, may not be for a bit as weathers s**t etc! lol!
As for the cooling circuit think its just less hoses, there no loop that I can remember but I'll grab some pics of that as well when...
its just the age mainly going against them @massivewangers she's 24 this year so knocking on a bit!
I do like the mk2, I run a 182 daily and had a couple of phase 1 172's as well, but they just don't float my boat like a mk1 does, I trust myself more with the mk1 chassis and handling and as you...
they're great little cars but they require a fair amount of...love shall we say, and persistence to keep them up to par!
rust is the main issue though tbh, everything else is surmountable with relative ease
Mission this project, pointed my mate dan at it too as he's just done same conversion into a mk1 clio and info like the epas ecu bypass is great. He managed to get standard speedo working though using just one sensor I believe, can put him in contact if needs and your fancy oe speedo
Manifold wrapped, apologies for the two tone look, ran out of original wrap and failed to purchase the correct matching one to finish it! Plus I hate wrapping stuff so perhaps not the best job in the world but she'll do!
Not updated this for well over a year, but the car sat mostly dormant last year due to the sill corroding to the point of MOT failure. As such to fix the problem I bought an RS2 inlet.....obviously!
So over this winter I've been fitting that along with a few other bits an bobs.
The new to do...
@Matt Scarbro looks lovely matey, always wanted an mx5, maybe one day!
Looks a laugh at Cadwell aswell, bit of a handful like, but everyone loves a bit of sideways!!
Nice to see another mk1 in use! Plans sound good! About to do the 172 rear stub axle conversion on mine over the winter. Where did you get the uprated rear torsion bars from aswell?
another thing to check is thermostat, where on the temp gauge is your needle sitting when the engine is warm? if its lower than '9' on the o'clock scale then stat is buggered and that can cause all sorts of running issues.
as above, its just the exacerbation of the gearbox issues, people who want a shorter throw tend to want it to change gear faster, hence it kills boxes. but that's usually more the mindset of the user than the car itself at fault. we all know to drive them with mechanical sympathy or pay the...
oh and the damage the badger did over 10 years ago.......still there, both rads still holding strong for now!lol!!

Yes mate, just clocked 160k other week @makavelli
did the belts and clutch earlier this year so she's all set. Only thing really letting her down is small scab of rust on drivers rear arch and the usual stone chips up front. I'll get that lot sorted in the new year I reckon.
my other wheels are painted and mint, so wanting to keep them in decent nick. these are a bit scabby so just going to let them get completely ditched and then get them recoated next year if I decide to keep them!
