    Free games thread

If basketball is your thing on Epic Games. Looks like this was only released back in October last year too?

Hi all I am new to the group

Great colour combo that - looks a bit more 'chunky' with the spacers on too :)

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

That would be my first suggestion. I wouldn't even want to change one piece of hardware without a reformat - let alone a new system of components. It's amazing just how much s**t, configs and unnecessary crap builds up from simply using a PC. It's by far the simplest solution to try first also...

    Respraying BG in LY?

There was a Porsche safety car during a race on TV the other month and it looked an amazing colour. Imagine getting a Clio resprayed in an official Porsche colour! :P

    Respraying BG in LY?

I've often thought about having my BG a different colour - good shout @Romanian Tyre Fitter for the Alien Green as it would look brilliant, imo. However, no way could I cope with an engine bay being a different colour - or some awkward corners/shut lines that reveal what it used to be. I would...

    Assetto Corsa modding (PC)

Yep - exactly that. You buy what you get - there's no mods as yet from what I can gather. Physics and visuals are improved - audio of the cars with some decent headphones on is brilliant.

    Assetto Corsa modding (PC)

Make sure you have a dabble at the Highlands Long circuit that's inbuilt in the vanilla Assetto Corsa. It's actually one of my favourite circuits in a racing game. See what you think about Assetto Corsa Competizione if/when you buy that. ;) https://www.assettocorsa.it/competizione/screenshot/

Very good intro-to-mid range wheel. It's the one I use. The G920 is PC & XBox biased The G29 is PC and PlayStation biased

    Assetto Corsa modding (PC)

Playing AC with a pad is pretty crap, imo. The main appeal to me, is that as far as I'm aware, it's the only production-spec racing game that features the Mazda 787B. I bought it for that car alone. AC is amazing for the huge amounts of plug-in and add-ons. However for a better racing...

    DOOM: Eternal

Had another dabble with this and got further than I did before. But it's still not 'right' as far as I'm concerned. Put another way, I bought Serious Sam 4 in the recent sale and am MUCH preferring that as a chaotic shooter. You know that the Doom series has failed when you start with a max...

Yep - 4 was the last one. I've got the Deluxe/Collectors Edition of Hitman 2 which I need to play through, but often prefer the chaos of games like Serious Sam 4. Shoot, move, shoot. None of this tip-toey crap...

Superb car, but why modify it?

Wait.... Have I been driving this car for over sixteen years with my head at 45 degrees, pressed against the roof, when I could have lowered the seat slightly? Shite-on-a-bike. Do I feel dumb...

Been VERY close myself to the CPU squishing - but thankfully (touch wood) - I've not killed one yet!

Have you tried any of the Sniper Elite games previously, Chris? I'm not usually a fan of stealth-type games, but I've loved the SE series - SE4 in particular.

To be honest - that's a bloody good alternative to poor b******s like us with storage heaters. Our peak bill for one month in a two bed apartment for two adults and with just two storage heaters on, was nearly £260. I bet for the same money, you could have an entire mining farm running for...

One half of nothing really, then! The peak I saw myself was when I ran two GTX690 cards in quad SLi. That was drawing some decent wattage during 3DMark.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Have you plugged in a wattage meter between your PC and the wall socket whilst mining? I'd be interested to know what's being drawn power-wise whilst your PC is mining for hours at a time. I know a typical kettle or toaster will hit 2,000w when in use - but that's only for a minute or two. If...

    Headlight restoration - Duxback

Will do - probably going to use it a bit more frequently with the upcoming sunnier months. Probably only spent 2-3 minutes on each headlamp, so it takes no time at all really. :)

    Headlight restoration - Duxback

This thread reminded me to get my arse in gear and whip over my headlights again. The rest of the car is skanky, but at least the lights are clean! Another go with The Chemical Guys Headlight Restorer and two cloths. Such a shame that the plastic is cracked in the nearside unit at the top and...

Have sound-bars replaced the traditional 5.1 and 7.1 speaker setups for TVs?

Wires don't bother me much to be fair. Decades after being in IT and I still shun Bluetooth and wireless for the most part if a cable isn't a pain in the arse to use. That said, being passionate about something and merely appreciating it are two quite different aims. I'm definitely of the...

Have sound-bars replaced the traditional 5.1 and 7.1 speaker setups for TVs?

As above really. When we move, we're looking into getting a new TV and was wondering about audio setup for it. I don't want to be a cnut of a neighbour and have an IMAX-spec setup that does nothing than piss the neighbour off. But I'd like something pretty-decent - a smart TV around 55"-60"...

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Looks like the manual is calling the 'pump tach' cable the USB headed one, which makes sense. My main PC mobo in BIOS has an actual reading for CPU_PUMP - which given that's over five years old now probably means that its a lot more common now?
  27. Darren S

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Just check that you get the USB header cable within the Corsair Hydro package. You should do, but without it the iCUE software won't be able to control the pump flow - it will just be 'on'. Permanently. If you're running a diddy mobo like a micro-ITX, you might find that you're short on the...

That letterbox view is just crying out for racing games. I'm thinking of the likes of the in-helmet view from Project Cars 2. Nice purchase Chris. Like you say with the 3070, you can't be too picky these days and grab what you can, when you can. It's still a top-level card anyway.

    PAS problem after flushing

Finger-crossed! I guess the occasional static twist, the risk is pretty minimal. Just those that do it on a daily basis. :)
  30. Darren S

    PAS problem after flushing

See that so often with people moving their cars. Huge 18/19" tyres being ground into the surface when completely static. It must put a significant strain on the rack and/or PAS system as a whole.
