That's just taking things too far though, imo. I'm all for them wanting to up-sell people to the next model. But allow them to upgrade in a year or two and stretch the longevity of their kit, FFS.
Very selfish. Very greedy. HP do it on some of their laptops too.
Cool.
As an educated guess going off your description, I'd say the following should be ok. Personally, I'd remove the existing memory and swap it with two sticks of the below - rather than mix & match it.

Tricky. You could do with being a bit more specific in the MBP specs.
It's easy to see what spec the memory is in the 'About this Mac' drop down. I'm guessing that it's old enough to be prior to Apple's stupid, stupid decision to hardwire memory to their motherboards.
I think that was part of what I was getting at with the comparison to CoH. The impression I get with SC2 is that you have to be on the ball with that minutiae level of control - in order to be good online.
I bet most RTS games could be tweaked by the developers and only the truly hardcore fans...
One of the things I just don't cut corners on - even when I have to go into the red financially. Your car sits on four relatively small contact patches - and that's all that you have for control on the road surface. Even if I had a Matiz or C1, I'd still put decent rubber on there. For the likes...
Personally m8 - CoH2 as a complete package (inc. all the DLCs) is still at the top of the pile so far. I've put around 600 hours into CoH1 since 2006 and about 200 into CoH2. Although these two and SC2 are both excellent RTSs, I think the CoH games are more laid back to play.
SC2 is deceptively...
As Sharky says m8 - you'll be hard pressed to get something decent for that money. You might strike it lucky with a seller who just wants to get rid - or they haven't a real clue as to the value of what they are selling.
With all the best wills and intentions - even people who build these...
Thread bump.
I have to hand it to Blizzard - they know how to polish a well designed game.
I really like RTS games, but missed the boat with the original Starcraft as I was all about C&C at the time.
I got a hooky copy of SC2 when it first came out and played through the Terran campaign...
Lol - summed up perfectly! At times it felt like that box-set or season on TV that you know should be better - but you're on episode 12 now of 15, so quitting would be a total waste. Plod on.
Yeah, it was a shame for me. I have such fond memories of pretty much hot-seating with the lads at uni with DOOMs 1&2 that I think I was hoping for something similar.
At times it was great - but others made me quit in comparison. Finishing off the enemies with a pinch seemed to be the only way...
Yey! Finished it just now - nailed the final boss on my 3rd attempt. Thank f*ck for that - I can have 80GB of SSD space back now.
DOOM - you could have been so epic. You looked great, brilliant back drops and good audio. But what will I walk away from this game remembering the most?
Low ammo...
I wish it was that straight-forward. Some of the best rounds I've had in FPSs have been where I've been totally and utterly schooled by the other team.
But something isn't right in BF1. Having bought and played and pumped god-knows how many hours into every iteration since its creation with...
Well, I came SO close to installing BF1 at the weekend. Something just doesn't work with me and the game. I don't know if it's lag, the game engine or something else.
I jumped in the middle of a round and finished with a K/D of 1/9. The next one wasn't much better - I think I got 6 kills in...
Not quite m8. I had my aux kit replaced at the 36k service interval by them and then went back a few years later on an RR day when the car was north of 60k and had already had its cambelt changed by then.
I also appreciate garages that seem 'interested' in you and your car. I don't mean smarmy...
If you can't get a code reader yourself - bite the bullet and book it in with your local Renault dealership.
They will be able to tell you what's wrong (along with a complete shopping list of faults) for about £25-£30. That's how I found out about my upstream oxygen sensor being on the blink...
Loads of positive feedback about these, but I doubt I'd go again. The biggest issue I had was that I'd arranged a day to work over at the Leeds depot while my car was having the auxiliary belt and 36k service done. I'd booked this weeks in advance - phoned and confirmed with them two days prior...
Was the Windows installation a clean one? Or one that came pre-built with the PC - with a million-and-one bits of manufacturer specific app crap?
I really wouldn't be using a Mac for high-end gaming. Low-end stuff, maybe. But don't expect to be playing the likes of BF1 in high detail.
On a serious note m8 - for the kind of work you do, would that kind of card really improve your workload?
Would your work necessarily have to be 'nVidia friendly' with what was being written?
:)
New tech - enterprise spec. Although way out of the reach of 99% of PC gamers - there will be the odd one out there that will buy one of those. Personally, I'd like to see how Windows 10 and a couple of games perform when installed on that.
