I believe its 175bhp and a similar lbs/ft torque figure, so it probably as quick as a 197 outright, but in everyday driving it will be quicker.

Personally i think you need to drive it for a day, a normal test drive just isn't enough. On a short drive all you will notice is that it is relatively slow and the steering is very light.

Are the pads standard?
They sound like they are glazed, in which case you need heat them up a bit, i.e stamp on them from high speed. If they are new they just need bedding in, which can take a couple of hundred miles.
