whistling/wheezey/screeching brakes... wot now?

hey i had a problem with my brakes before that they were squeeking/whistling alot, even when i wasnt braking... my local mechanic took a quick look (i mean a very quick look) and said the brake pads look almost new and the discs look pretty new too...

so just wondering if any1 knows wot else could be causing this problem?

  Turbos.
Are the pads standard?

They sound like they are glazed, in which case you need heat them up a bit, i.e stamp on them from high speed. If they are new they just need bedding in, which can take a couple of hundred miles.

i tink so...from wot i can tell anyways, only just bought the car so wouldnt really know... coz i know there are some pads for the 182/172 which screech alot arent they? but mine do it without actually pressing the brake pedal

  Titanium 182
To save making a new post for myself, my car's having the same problem - just got new pads and discs and they're squeaking only when I'm not braking... And I only hear it at low speeds (around 5/10mph). Happens when pulling away and slowing down.

take pads out. clean everything up. especially the caliper where the pad guide and retainers are. also may need to file the ends of the pads lightly where they go into the caliper aswell as apply a little copper grease. mines were a tight fit and made a noise so i done all this now they are spot on.
