There are plenty of cheap Mk1s but remember with bigger mileage you're going to get some issues. Suspension and bushes might be knackered, major services coming up etc...
Sounds like bumpsteer, where you're changing from toe in to tow our, caused by how low your car is.
If you go to a place that does proper geo set up they can sort it out.

You do realise that coilovers are just springs and dampers? The advantage you will have them is that they are adjustable over a normal spring and damper kit. You can lower it as little as probably 20mm all the way to 80mm.

Pretty sure you can buy direct from Speedline as i emailed them for prices once. I'm sure if you get a repartee going then you will get a good deal. At the end of the day they are going to be able to undercut any reseller aren't they so bound to be some wiggle room.
