It's not been unheard of for loose batteries/chavvy subs etc... to rip through body panels or windows in a crash.

A halogen light bulb has a little cap on the end which prevents light leaving the headlamp directly, meaning that any light emitted from a halogen bulb, is reflected off the back of the reflector. This angles the beam away from the right hand side of the road, and down.

Yeah, when using tarmac run offs, you run the risk of a car on its roof, or side or without wheels, skimming straight over the tarmac and having a much worse impact into a barrier.
Sort of a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation with tarmac vs gravel.
