If it's just the normal plastic, don't paint it for gods sake. If it's painted greyish, buy a new one, and don't try painting it. and no, you don't have to remove the bumper to remove the grill.

Good to meet you too, I managed to get it in without taking the bumper off, slid it in upside down and twisted it the right way up, once the centre section had cleared the rear beam. Haha, only used the jacking points, I'm not that daft! Cheers!
