well... i dont think i'm going to get anywhere with insuring the car... no where will give me a quote under 4,000, cus my ncb only applies to direct line, and those b******s wont quote me full stop. really got me down, but oh well. it'll have to live in the garage, till i can get insurance on...
still not got any sensible quotes from anyone
martin 89 though... how did you get insured that low at 18?! i tried a quote from admiral and got 4,500 i think. did you go for third party only insurance? and was it on your 172?
sounds like a good deal, but what would i know, i bought a cat c 182 in november, and just payed 4,000 to get it sorted. just be careful, cus the damage is quite often worse than it looks
yeah... seems that way, the tosser who crashed it put loads of stuff from k-tec on it, like vallences, exhaust, alloys and induction kit... god knows if its got a re map or anything like that underneath. my post code is in the lowest risk area, but i think looking at everyone elses price for...
yeah, might have to un mod it. it wasnt me who did it though, i bought the car as a cat c write off with all the mods on, but thats a different story...
this is turning into a nightmare... i just want to be able to drive my car legally
haha, that might have something to do with it. i have the worst combination of things from an insurance perspective, a modified performance car, being 19, and male. got a quote from admiral for 4,500, in other words "we dont want to insure you". going to give bell another ring now.
last resort will be to put the car in dads name and pay for his insurance, and me to be a named driver, but its a bit dodgy that way. really should have checked out the insurance before i bought, but you know, impulse buying and that...
i looked on moneysupermarket for insurace, but ive realised now they give really underestimated quotes. im 19 im afraid:o and not got any claims or points
ive spent all day ringing round for insurance, rung adrian flux, the AA, hastings direct, HIC, hyperformance, performance direct... twice. but the cheapest quote i got was £4,000. who in there right mind would pay £4,000 for insurance?!
anyone else been in the same position? i dont want to...
cheers, may aswell just get the new seat... cant understand why the passenger seat air bag went off, when it was hit on the drivers side. god knows what happened... i bought it crashed
i used to have a s****y fiesta, with 10mm spacers on, and wide alloys... im not proud of it.
didnt like them cus it changed the whole geometry of the car and shook it to peices at anything over 50mph. the amount of thread on the bolts was a bit scary too, i think the nuts only managed two turns...
trying to get my 182 back on the road after a crash.
Just wondered if it needs the passenger seat replacing to get it through a VIC or will stitching the seat back up without the airbag be enough?
thats very true, but you could tell from the brake lining on it that he'd been using that alloy for a while, and ive got a mate who does car body work, he checked it out and nothing had been tampered with. all the crumple zones were intact and it looked like a bargain at the time
meh... works already started, im stuck with it.
i knew it was a gamble buying a damaged car, hoped it wouldnt cost much to repair, but the gamble didnt pay off.
from the outside it looks like it hasnt been in an accident, the only give away is the crack down the offside wing, the alloy is...
id been looking around at 172's but everytime i went to go and view one, they were either too expensive, or they were sold on the day i was going. so saw this one and bought it thinking it wouldnt need that much repair work, cus the damage looked superficial.
turns out it needs a new offside...
Been hooked on buying a clio 172 for quite a while, but bought a cat c write off 182 back in november. its just in the process of being fixed up, gonna cost 4 grand :/
no one on here would happen to know the guy that crashed it would they? its an inferno orange 182, and looks like the last...
