sorry i should have said, yeah i realise rev counters are never accurate, but iv had mine tested (mates £35,000 worth of diag machine) and its within a few hundred rpm accurate

And as far as im aware the clio dosnt do that matey, i know mine revs to 7200 rpm in the 1st 5 gears, anyone have any literature on this? there must be something from renault somewhere

it doesnt matey, most def 7200 rpm through all gears, iv tested ;) Seriously though the ecu cant tell what gear your in,so it cant limit differently in certain gears And im pretty sure its water temp related, though i wish it was oil temp

VW's are terrible for it mate, a few wacks with a rubber mallet WILL get it off, though a prob with leaving wheel bolts on slightly is iv seen threads damaged that way, id take the bolts off, make sure its very well secured then a few hits on the tyre will get it off

the rev limit is the same through all gears guys, the car doesnt know which gear your in,so cant alter the rev limit. when warm it should limit at 7200 rpm, and this is measured by water temp which has to be at 85 degrees(iirc) to let the engine rev that high, when it is under this temp it will...

my ph1 used to do this, before i changed the acellorator cable lol

honestly mate for the price valvers go for just go and buy one! then you will have everything already there, because you will need subframe also, plus loads of other stuff, id go and buy a valver, just my opinion matey tho :) id guess you would need to change: engine box clutch cooling system...

i did a fair few miles on a shorter shaft,didnt do any damage but id get it checked to be honest mate

was the driveshaft a genuine item mate? iv had it in the past where aftermarket shafts are slightly shorter and cause vibration

coming up on 121k now :D and although she gets serviced every 6k, gets warmed up and cooled down properly she still gets a good blow out.......must days lol actually it still suprises me how willing to rev she still is, pulls cleanly to 7200 in the 1st 4 gears happily

its the thing that operates the VVT mate, iirc its a bit of a job to change, at the back under the inlet manifold
