Ive just had a wee look, any 106 GTi registered after March 2001 are £245.00 jesus christ! :eek:

Phase 1 is the way to go, anything before March 2001 will have no tax raise (any 172 before 2001 is £210, anything after is £235 as are all the 172 and 182s afterward) Ive owned both a GTi/VTS and Phase 1 and i can honestly say the Phase 1 was better than the two (and better on fuel bizarley)...

Id advise you to get the bumpers, side skirts and whatever else to make it look genuine, a 182 would look great in that colour

People have different opinions/views on whats the best. Personally i enjoyed my phase 1 172 more than my current 182 as it felt quicker/rawer etc Others that have made the same move will no doubt dissagree in some respects, (not you) but i love the flame baiting people do on here to provoke...

Ive owned both a GTi and VTS. As Alan and Russ said, it would be down to the driver. Theres no use offering up any comment if you have never driven any of these cars, they are very capable in the right hands (and worse for fuel than a 1*2)

The difference between 95 and 98 is usually always 7p... So an 11g/50l tank is 62.50 to fill with V-power Or £59 for Unleaded 95.. £3.50 wouldnt get you sucked off by a stray dog TBH
