I would honestly not dabble with nitro. Just take them to a wheel specialist, the problem begins with not taking the tyre off the rim. Moisture gets under the paint, bubbles the paint, you need to start again...

I really wouldnt, it could be the start of somthing majorly serious. Buy a mint one thats been cherished, dont let miles put you off, they get better with more, however, maintenance is an absolute must. If hes admitting to the engine tapping, what else could be wrong?
