To be honest I can't really tell much difference in the drive between 15" and 16" wheels. I don't remember my ph1 being any different to drive than my 182. The cheap tyres are good though.
Really PH2's need to be lowered a fair bit to pull 15's off, unless they're just track wheels.
Apparently its the whole gearstick.
Its a great gearknob though, one thing I really wish was carried over from the ph1. Although I used to have to drive with gloves in winter in my ph1 because of it.
Glad somebody else agree's with me. Ktec stealth is conveniently designed to produce most boom between 60 and 80mph in top gear......... I was told it wouldn't drone by ktec, what a mug I was.
Sorry to hear about your problems mate. To be honest the F4R is generally a pretty reliable engine providing its serviced properly. you must have just got very unlucky.
Chin up fella :)
A ktec stealth I presume?
I like stealth systems on 172's. Its the only option I looked at for my ph1. I just wish I hadn't of gone for a ktec. Boomey, droney thing it was.
Great idea I think stripping the cup for bits. The breaks look awesome. I'd like 4 pots for mine, they're not really necessary I guess but they're still great to have.
Heard it all now. Rolling a car because it wasn't lowered. I'll remember that excuse if I ever roll my car......
If I was you I'd lower it (for looks, not so it won't roll), take off the stickers and keep it clean.
Re: What did you drive before Clios
My list in chronological order is:
2005 "55" Clio 1.2 16V Extreme 4
2000 "W" Clio 172 PH1
1998 "R" Mazda 323F Executive
1998 "R" Mazda MX5 1.8
2004 "54" Clio 182 FF
Three out of my five cars have been Clio's. Madness. I love them though, and will...
Very difficult to come by these days. Pretty much all the last of the good one have been used for F4R conversions. There can't be many standard valvers around now.
In the last year or two its rare to even hear them mentioned on here.
Comparison sites are useless. They want £2600 for me on a 182, yet only £5500 on a 458 Italia. Now correct me if I'm wrong but at 21 I was very surprised a 458 was "only" £5500 to insure.
I found the sound system in my ph1 every bit as good (if not better) than the one in my 182.
In fact I'm pretty sure its a 60W system in the ph1 and only a 40W system in the PH2's.
Maybe your speakers are knackered, or the head unit is.
Its bold, and probably based on my own perception but if you look around though how many other cars can cover the basis of a ph1 172 for £1500, a 182 for £3500, a 197 for £7000 or a 200 for £10,000+
I'm talking same age, mileage etc.
I'm by no means saying that RS Clio's are the best cars in...
There is no better car than an RS Clio until you start spending significantly more money. They're comfortable, fast, economical, well eqipt, look good an most of all they never fail to make you smile when you drive them.
If the 200 will save you money then it seems like an easy decision then.
When are you planning to do the swap? If I were you I'd at least like to take the M3 to Le Mans.
I do think its a lot for a Clio, however its better than the alternative of having to drive a "boring" car.
In tax and insurance my 182 probably costs me about £600 a year more than a 1.2 16v would. I would need a bog standard A to B car any way so the luxury of having my 182 as a toy/hobby is...
Are you sure its not a slightly buckled wheel Jon? The OZ F1 Cup's go out of shape pretty easily apparently, even a pot hole can do it I was told.
I had a buckled wheel on my ph1, I changed the tyre over to the spare then it was fine. Think mine got done with a pot hole, wobble only used to be...
They're a great all rounder. To be honest the RS Clio is a car you will always look at and think its a great option. There aren't many cars that can be such a great all rounder, at a relatively low cost, whilst still being one of the best drivers cars on the road. The same goes from ph1 172...
Looks nice mate. Nice blanc canvas.
It seems a good price from a dealer. You get more piece of mind and less hassle buying from a dealer. To be honest if you think about it as £3600 for a 2004 car with cruise, climate, xenons, auto lights/wipers, 2.0 engine, Renaultsport chassis etc it...
