any new car tends to be the same nowadays,i work for vw and the amount of warranty claims we do is unreal,and 80% of mk4 golfs we see are around 5-6 years old now and most need things done,main things are coil springs that break and anti roll bar bushes and clamps,so im my opinion thats basic...
well the interior door pulls have gone all nasty and looked horrid and dirty and no amount of cleaning helped,i then spotted a tin of paint in the garage and a plan was hatched lol
well here they are,nothing great but looks alot better than they used to!!
i paid just over 2k for my 2001 'Y' with 98k on the clock mate in black with 3 owners from new and full renault history-there are bargains to be had just be pepared to haggle

if it helps mate ren might be like vw,in that any wiring looms for any vehicles are made to order,they dont make looms up as spares as such,i ordered a engine loom for a mk4 golf 1.8t and it took 11 weeks to arrive because it was made to my order

as you can imagine there are a few stone chips and small dings but i expected that with the price,thing is it drives nice and tight,does smoke rattle or use oil ans water,i hpi'd her and she clean as a whistle,3 owners from new,never crashed etc and full ren history :)

the rate in which the spring comprssses is still the same,so a chopped spring will try to compress as if it still has all its coils in,the worst case with this is you are driving fast and corner hard and the spring compresses too much and 'bottomes out as such,also the ends of springs are shaped...
