Hmmmm - an hour in, and I'm actually quite liking it! :o
Nowhere near as polished or well presented as say Oblivion, but its a good attempt - even if it has taken donkey's years to come out.
I want to hear what The Munson has to say about it. He's had it on backorder since he was five years...
Yes it is - if the mobo supports it. ;)
The Asus M2N32-SLi has the 10% overclock function on the CPU tab. Stock clock on the AM2-4800 CPU is obviously 2,400Mhz. Enable the overclock and it immediately switches it to 2,640Mhz.
Seems entirely stable at that too - never had an issue in 9...
Well, 2.5 - one of those with the weird boots on them. Spotted it on the way in this morning. Must have remained unregistered for months to get put on an 07 plate?

I just enable the 10% Overclock function in BIOS.
Have tried and used it on previous PCs, but I can't be arsed any more. I can see why people do it though.

Sounds very similar to Supreme Commander. Some love it, some hate it. I'm somewhere in the middle. I can see bits of brilliance in it and at other times I just see a run-of-the-mill RTS game.

It will be interesting to see what types of games on the PC actually start to use quad-core. Even dual-core is wasted on 95% of stuff out there at the moment.

Is it just me, or does that sound a bit kack? The initial uptake sounds good, but after that, the noises sound like a mix of a constipated duck and several other fart noises.
No questioning that it bloody shifts though!

Budget - AMD
Extra bit of cash - Intel
I've had quite a few Intels and then switched to AMD a good number of years back with and AMD600 system.
On paper, Intel currently wins, but it's all so arbitrary. You're talking about high resolutions, x16 AA etc, when lets face it, most games are run...
Although this game was initially planned when 286's were on the drawing board - it appears that it will be released this Friday, the 23rd.
I'll be getting it and let you know what I think. Apparently it's not DX10 compliant (yet) but it should be more than enough to stress the latest hardware...
Re: Help On Tryes Please
I put two upfront on mine m8, when the original Exaltos were getting borderline legal. Not bad after 24k though....:D
To be honest, they aren't as good as the Exaltos. They seem a lot more 'scrabbly' and not as good as Exaltos in surface contact.
In the wet, they...
Re: F**king Donkey Kong Country Part 3.
Too bloody right - it's the nutts!
Still got my original DK hand-held somewhere......
Proper old skool!

I bet the 1066mhz memory set you back a bit? The 800mhz stuff I bought back in July was enough!
Looks a good system m8 - just keep tracking those prices of the 8800 as they start to fall and then nab another twin for some SLi action.
Christ almighty, we need to get out more...... ;)

I could be wrong, but isn't the Thatcham rating an indicator of what the device does? Rather than stating 'how good' or 'how modern' the device is - if it meets the Cat1 criteria, then it is still classed as Cat1 - regardless of whether or not it was fitted in 2001.
I could be wrong though...
^^^^ - it's quite a sticky situation that Reno has got itself, imo. Speaking from a purely personal view, the 'successor' to the 182 just isn't that at the moment. I could see the transition from Ph.1 172, then Ph.2, through to the 182 until ultimately, the 182 Trophy. But I'm just left cold...
Here she is - enjoying her first tankful of the good stuff! :D
Just a shame the phone camera isn't better - doesn't do the colour much justice. Looks more bronze than red?? :S
Looked great in the rear-view mirror on the way home. Certainly don't see many in that colour on the roads!
Well...
Don't do it!
Wireless if good for browsing/emails/etc, but is currently SHEEEEEEIT for gaming. The basis of the technology just doesn't suit the way online games work at the moment. Don't forget, there's a lot of encryption/decryption going on, that simply isn't there on wired connections.
I...
The access denied bit sounds a bit weird. I take it that you've got full admin rights over your PC? You haven't got any restricted accounts on there, have you?
Did you use the CD for software installation? I never, ever use the CD within the packaging - unless its for something very specific...
