    Prey

Could you actually see in this though? Or like Doom, was it black, a bit more black. A bit of darkness and maybe, just maybe, a sliver of light here and there..... ;) D.

    Washing placebo?

Well John - that would be a good way to quickly get rid of that bottle. Use it in conjunction, like me! D.

SoundBlaster X-Fi and a decent PC?

Wozzaa - just get one of these m8 - I'm sure your budget can stretch that far! :) http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/tnn/tnn500af D.

    Washing placebo?

Washed the car as usual with the AG Bodywork Shampoo this morning. However, I put two capfulls of the AG Ultra Deep Shine into the bucket as well - just to experiment. It turned the bucket mixture a slightly light blue colour in the process, but I swear the results looked better. It certainly...

My 197 Test Drive (With Pics)

Good review m8, but I'm not convinced by the 197 at all. Just look at your first picture. The 182 looks so, so much better. And I know what you mean about it being big. A dCi new-shape Clio that comes to work often looks HOOOGE compared to the Focuses on the car park. The 197 just doesn't look...

SoundBlaster X-Fi and a decent PC?

Mark, how much was the case, if you don't mind me asking? They are around £160+, aren't they? I was looking at an Antec case as a replacement. I currently have an Antec PSU and it does well for the price & spec. Hopefully the case will be on the same level...

BG03 - silver 172, Brum, with CS sticker

Spotted it just after 12 today. I was stuck in traffic on the opposite side of the motorway. Had a coloured coded grille mesh by the looks of it and an induction hole at the front. Large CS sticker in the rear screen too! Anyone? D.

SoundBlaster X-Fi and a decent PC?

Actually switched to Dolby Pro Logic on my DTT3500 decoder. Suddenly all the pops and clicks went within BF1942. Didn't sound quite as good as the 5.1 setting, but decent enough all the same. Small quirks of CL products, eh? Wozzaa. Points taken onboard, m8 :) D.

    SETI Makes Alien Contact?

CHRIST - if E.T. really was on par with any of those freaks, we may as well just blow up the Earth now ;) D.

Petrol Blue (is that the right name?) 182

I'd agree with that on the 182's. Still to see one in the flesh though.... ;) D.

    EPS file viewer

Hi m8, Turns out that the original eps files were on the G4 at work anyway. We just saved them as jpegs and burnt them onto a CD. Cheers for the offer though! Much appreciated.... :D D.

Tried opening up an EPS file in Acrobat 7.0 m8 - didn't have it... :( D.

    EPS file viewer

Ah, is Distiller a freebie? I did notice it on the full blown version of Acrobat 6.0? Just concerned about licences and stuff, that's all.... D.

    EPS file viewer

Mornin' chaps.... We've got a couple of EPS images that we need to show a customer offsite tomorrow. I believe that they have been written in an Adobe product, but I wanted to know if there were any file viewers out there (for PC) that supported EPS format? We just need to view the files -...

SoundBlaster X-Fi and a decent PC?

Yep Mark, I've done all the obvious! Mad to see that you've got a 9800 Pro as well - again, like me. How's the Lian-Li case, btw? Do they justify their high price? Wozzaa - how have you found the X2 4400? I was looking into that one purely for the fact that it was the first spec with 1MB cache...

'53 Cup - outside 'Owd Betts pub...

:) It is a great road that - shame it's a little short though. Sometimes I go that way, having come from the Heywood side via Ashworth Valley Road. It's almost like a WRC stage in miniature! How long ago did you leave Rochdale? D.

    F***ing W***ers

They should be made to pay back for that car (plus extra) in Ass Tax. Strap them up, and ferry them over to Amsterdam and stick a sign next to them saying "Bum me for 50p as I have been a little t**t in England and need to pay back for a car I torched" I wonder if they'd ever do that again...

SoundBlaster X-Fi and a decent PC?

Same as me, m8! :D I've got that slotted into an MSI K7N2 Delta2-LSR mobo with three lots of Corsair PC3200 512MB sticks. Like yourself, it's not caused a problem but I was looking to update my PC in a couple of months and I'm getting to be a bit wary of the X-Fi in higher spec PCs. They've...

Why is my 182 fishtailing slowly on a straight road?

Yep - or it could be something as simple as tyre pressures. Get yourself down to Asda - they always have those decent (and free) digital air lines at the petrol station bit. I set my fronts to 32 or 33 PSI and the rears to 31 PSI. If it still feels like its fish-tailing after that, then it maybe...

Still got my Atari Lynx - haven't played it in a while though.... ;) D.

SoundBlaster X-Fi and a decent PC?

CL's official stance is that latency on the PCI bus is the main issue. The X-Fi is 'missing' its turn on the clock cycle and hence clipping and popping noises can be heard through the speakers. As I said, I've no issues at the moment, but I know the problems well from my Audigy Player days...

SoundBlaster X-Fi and a decent PC?

Anyone got these in combination, as above really? I've got an X-Fi Fatal1ty card in a decidedly average PC and have no trouble with it at all. However, browsing a few forums, I've read that various people are having issues using it with top-flight PCs. Certainly something to be aware of if...

We went past you twice in the Vee to see if you had a CS sticker. Looked v.clean. There was a green Mk1 parked further up with tints as well. Anyone? D.

LOL - one of the few occasions it was, m8! I was out this morning washing it, before I went to work. How come you came down Shadsworth road? On the way back to work? The 'LAS' plate stood out a mile! :) D.

Sure is. I've forgot the Macified Colouring-In term for it these days..... :rasp: D.

    good graphics card?

Your AGP bus is going to be a limiting factor there, m8. You can get some of the X800 (and X850 iirc?) cards in AGP form, but they will be thin on the ground. A good all-rounder that will be cheap these days is the older ATi 9800 Pro. It's not cutting edge by a long shot, and despite only having...

    formating desktop without cds

It can also depend if the CD is an OEM or open volume licensed version (aka corporate). Also, be wary of some of the torrents as they maybe vendor specific. You can install cross-vendor CDs, such as HP XP+SP2 onto say an NEC laptop, but it will still require a genuine XP key by the time it gets...
