Mine made a point of showing me that he deleted everything. I thought that was just procedure. Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content. You can just do that once he confirms it's being replaced.

Well the chances are it's already changed. Turn them both off. Then turn the 4 back on. I betcha it's activated. If that fails, plug it into iTunes.

Stick them both in airplane mode. Then keep bringing them out and back in again. Mine only took half hour.
