Novice Saxo VTS Track car - Donny style

Looks awesome, really nice progress too. Get that grille back in though, please? It looks purposeful with everything you've done, then it looks like some chav stole the grille and you can't afford to put it back.

My new A3 :) yey (lots of photos)

I bet this thread didn't quite go the way you wanted? Everyone telling you how wonderful the clio is. LOL The Audi's very nice though, looks a lot newer than it is too. Nice upgrade if not a little dull to drive.

    My Ultra Red Renaultsport 200.

Not actually sure how I missed this but it looks mint. Perfect spec mate, well in. Genuine question though, how on earth have Renault managed to achieve worse MPG than I get from the 3.0???? Like seriously, how is that even possible???

Care to elaborate? Or will I never want to meet you if you do?

    Ignition Live Wire

Depends where you want to take it from? Radio etc? Easiest way is to buy a cheap meter, one pin on an earth and then just test the other wise. You'll find permenant lives, discount those, then check any with no power whilst flicking the ignition on and off. Very easy.

Am i mad to consider buying these?

Get o.z superleg's or ultralegs, one of them is really light, can't remember which. f0xy had a post about the weight of his recently. With good tyres you can get them down to something silly and they won't break the bank. I'd buy a second hand set and have them refurbished to look new, saving...

That looks f**king mint. A proper credit to you Kev. (Well it shows you're a proper anal b*****d). Shame the pictures are a bit pony though (sorry). It's such a shame to get rid but I can see why. TBH I went from fun to boring and exec spec, then went for a bit of both, I bet you'll do the same.

    Poor Escort Mexico

A powder one could have dramatically controlled the fire yes. There would still be damage, but fire burning for a long time creates a lot more damage than a flash flame.

    Poor Escort Mexico

This is why you should always have a fire extinguisher in the car, track car or not. Proper sad to see.

New Wheels for the Boost Bus Please.

What about the wheels they put on TT's etc? The 18" RS4's? Or the newer audi style wheel? Personally I'd go for the wheels on the LCR as they are seriously nice, but as you said, they're ££££

10mm Spacers, Do I need longer bolts ?

My honest suggestion: Take a wheel off, put a bolt through the hole and put the spacer against the back of the wheel and put the bolt through that too. If you're happy with the amount of thread left over being the only thing connecting your wheel to the car, go ahead.

    Jon's Trackday PH1 172 project thread

    Where there's smoke... *update*

I suppose it is a regular occurrence...?

    Where there's smoke... *update*

Honest question, why on earth get parts from Renault? Surely a car being broken on here could have supplied you the lot for £100?

Re: 172 in a mk1, Superfastdan's very very long project.... Make it to Wales and I'll buy you a cider. Keep us updated. (like with actual pictures and s**t) P.s I'm surprised you managed to make such a tidy and comprehensive thread, impressed with the computer skills.

Changing a CV joint, driveshaft still attached?

For the sake of sourcing a joint, packing it out, getting covered in s**t, I'd rather buy a full shaft and whack that in.
  28. Rob

Changing a CV joint, driveshaft still attached?

Can you get a picture of the shaft? As Danny says, if the joint is detachable/replacable then it's fine. I'd personally take it out of the GB just because it'd be so much easier to work on. THE best option is just to get a whole new/second hand shaft though.
