I think (could definitely be wrong) that the knock sensors just keeps the car alive? i.e if it's faulty the car is prone to stalling/not starting? Or is that the crank sensor? or are they the same thing? LOL!?!?
Jord, that's the second time I've seen someone just tell someone to pull the sensor our, when I did it on my mkph1 1.2, it had to be twisted a bit before it was pulled out, like to unlock it, is this not the case on the 172 box?
Well to me it sounds like......
GB dropped, hit exhaust and subframe, I woulndn't worry too much about the damage to the subframe, it could only be cosmetic, something you can find out and change later if REALLY necessary.
Exhaust would sound like crap because the GB has pushed it down so it's...

You're only problems "sofaboy" is going to be getting that old thread out, but a bolt extractor should do the job.
Have you actually f**ked anything? Or is it just a case of replacing that mount?

I'm with Steve on this, if they directed you into the tunnel and you'd made it all the way to the show with no issues, I don't see how they can say it's down to you.
