Thanks :o I do take some real pride in that paintwork ;)
Off topic from OP, but is Autotrader the best place to put it on? When I do put it up at the beginning of November, id want it to be sold well before the 200 arrives so I dont have to worry about it...
Yup, all being well... Phoning up tomorrow to speak to Richard about the deal. Before its set in stone, I want to have a look over the terms & conditions and all the info about the deal to make sure there isnt any hidden charges etc or anything that may put me in a pickle.
But, fingers crossed...
Paid a bit too much imo... My 172 (52 plate) will be up for sale next month, 50k miles, FSH (mainly Renault), cambelt done etc. Will be putting it up for £3k ono.
Rang insurance, id get an £11 refund if I transfer on the 1st December ;) Bonus!
Was quite funny though, they didnt even have a 200 Cup on their system yet. I tried a registration of another new 200 Cup and it was coming up as a 5dr 197 lol :P
Ive actually been quite lucky then, although mine did go wrong in August, it cost £370 to fix. Thats the only money that ive spent on it unwillingly.
Everything else ive changed is because i wanted to, like the exhaust system, cup spoiler, did the rear brakes etc.
Would be impossible to get to Uni lol. I could manage if I wasnt at Uni as I can cycle to work or skank the odd lift.
I can use my dads car 2 days a week for my lectures at Uni, but cant use it for all of my lectures unfortunately :(
Although, come near to the delivery time and when it goes up...
As my post above, it isnt something im just going to jump straight into. Obviously got to do all the sums etc and make sure that it is the right thing to do.
I just take my time making decsions when it comes to spending large amounts. E.g. it took me about 2 months to eventually decide to get a...
The main "if and but" is whether i can afford to have it and actually still live, without having to worry about money.
All the sums are saying yes, so im going to be ringing insurance to check and then I shall be on the phone to speak to Richard to take it further. Its not something that you can...
Just a few recent ones of mine:
It might be going up for sale soon if anyones interested... Very possible that im going to be ordering a 200 Cup very soon!! :)
True, but over the next year, id be better off financially getting the 200 than keeping the 172 (due to the sale money of the 172 and the lower insurance, lack of tax, mot etc).
This time next year, uni will be long gone and ill be in the real 9-5 world.
Doing all my sums, over the 2 years id be £1200 worse off with a 200 Cup. But that doesnt include maintenance of the 172.
If I then go on to do the same as Sir_Dave and look at equity/depreciation, it works out that I would only be about £250 worse off, but thats if i were to buy the 200 after...
Tbf, my problems have all come at once. I had 7 months without a problem.
Then UCH went, which also in turn caused the satnav screen to blow, and now its just this warning light thing.
I was rolling with my UCH problem for a good 4-5 weeks though trying to find a cheaper solution than going to...
Mine started that way, only came on every so often but its gradually got to the point where it does it every time i go for a drive now, unless i dont turn ;)
Ahh right lol... Is that part hard to change? Can you just use one off any model, as the link you gave was for a Campus model?
Thanks for the mate. :D
Can I ask why it would be that part that would cause this problem? And how does it get that fault?
I want to make sure of it before I spend £30 on it ;)
Quotes for a 200 with me are coming out £300 cheaper.
Current 172 insurance (£1k excess): £1200
New Clio 200 Cup (£500 excess): £900
Im with Admiral atm, and the 200 quote was also done with Admiral
Bear in mind, im a 21 year old University student. Clean licence and will have 2 years NCB in...
As above, these lights come on when I drive the car.
They only come on though when the steering wheel is turned.
We have checked the ABS rings, all seem fine and the rears have just been changed anyway.
ABS Sensors looked fine but that was with an untrained eye.
Tried the brake pedal...
Ive taken into consideration in my sums for both cars:
- insurance for both years (insurance is actually £300 cheaper on a 200, thats even with half the amount of excess)
- tax for both years (only 1 year for 200)
- 2x MOT for 172
- 2x Service for 172
- Actual cost of 200 fees over 2 year...
Sums that ive made up to yet show that the 172 will be £1600 cheaper over the 2 years to keep... But that isnt taking into consideration any faults and maintenance that has to be done on it as you cannot predict that.
So its either get the 200 and potentially be £1600 worse off (£800 per year...
I actually cant decide whether to go through with this!!!
I want to soo much, but then theres the other part of me saying "do i Really need a new car".
I need to do some sums to work out how much ill be losing if I go for this deal, rather than keep the 172
I need ammo like this!!! :D
Im one of those people that do like to change cars, so this is ideal for me.
I think theyre looking at it in the sense that ive got a car that works fine now, so why waste money on buying a new car that I wouldnt actually own (and therefore giving up my current car)...
Right after speaking to my g/f and her parents about this deal, is there anyone who thinks that doing this is a bad idea?
They say its not good to get into this as you are paying £6k for something you dont own, and then if you give it back at the end you are left with nothing and have nothing to...
