Renault or Gates as said, by the sound of you're PM you won't struggle, but you do need specialist Renault locking tools to do the job yourself. If you'd like a hand/like to let me watch and learn give me a shout. :)
Quite a few Essex/Kent meets mate, quite a good bunch of people around here.
Depending upon what you want, (i.e good value, or top performance) there are a lot of coilovers available. Vmax being an example of budge and KW v2's being an example of top performance. Adjustable are the way forward...
What it is that suprises me is how many forum members haven't got it done.
My newish ph1 was owned before me by 2 forum members, one of them owned it twice and is massively active *cough*Mr Cole*cough* and the other spent a fortune modding it, but neither ever had the recall done, brand new...
As true as this is, the amount I would have had to spend at Renault on having the car done in there, I could have bought it twice maybe three times over anyways....
Hope you get it sorted Leah.
Sorry I'm talking drivers side, (I must confess I cannot remember n/s & o/s) they said something about the shaft having to come apart to put the boot on as they are plastic so can't stretch around?!? Meaning the amount of labour etc would mean its easier to just change the shaft?
I'll have a good look for it tmrw, but tbh, it was tiny, like properly tiny, as in the size of a snapped pencil lead or something so it won't be easy to see.
I realise it could kill the belt, but that would mean it having to first get down there, then stick somewhere upright and pointy, as...
If you do this, care to take some pics and write a mini guide? I've been told by a garage its so much effort to do, its better to just fit another shaft....
Assuming you are talking about drivers side that is...
Right:
Skoda Fabia 2007 onwards.
Part Number: 5J7 807 061 (9B9)
The last three digits of that part no. are a colour code that most dealers won't need.
Would you like me to phone them and pay for it for you aswell? ;)
Picked it up. You not got a local Skoda? If you have just call and ask., if they've got one in they'll hold it, if not they'll order one. (Takes about 3 days)
But if (god forbid) that drillbit is a bit stuck, could I work it back and forth a bit to get it to bugger off? lol!
Is this TINY bit of drillbit going to kill my engine if it's gone in there!?
Car's already up on stands so can do it that way I suppose.
Shall do it tmrw before fitting the belt cover back on.
Oh and Jord, why clockwise? (being stupid but I'm interested)
Cheers all.
Can it be done?
Whilst drilling a snapped bolt from the cambelt cover, a drill bit snapped, a tiny bit (1.5mm) and a tiny part of it (probably 3mm long at worst).
Now this little bit of drill disappeared as it snapped, and may or may not have made its way towards the cambelt.... :S
Is it...
Cheers Sawah, will feel good when I start it and it all works.
Still a bit worried about the tiny bit of snapped drill bit that may or may not have made its way towards the cambelt....
Haha! I think I'll need it tmrw evening mate, depending upon when the mount arrives (should be tmrw but you...
It'll be 'reet when this part arrives!
Hopefully it'll solve all my shakes etc, I just need to do the top GB mount next... but the securing stud is spinning too.
The "fun" never ends with these cars it seems.
