I had this problem, turned out to be a loose earth strap and the earth in the engine loom snapped!

I get pretty much the same as you frayz, unless TheGiraffe takes it to work then it'll drop to low 30's mpg. I'll be doing 40mpg down the A13 til I hit the traffic at dagenham then it will drop. Average over a full tank is normally 38mpg. Not too sad.

In that case pop the black cover off the dip beam side and pull the connector off and there's a wire clip that holds the lamp in position, you need to push towards the lamp and to one side (can't remember which) and it'll un clip, carefully take the lamp out and insert new one being careful not...

Are they actual xenons or xenon look standard bulbs?

Are you sure its not your headlamp washers if you have them? Could be a split pipe?

The catch isn't releasing. get a friend to gently lift/wiggle the bonnet up while you pull the lever all the way. Don't push on it or else you will end up denting it!

The new over looks like standard bulb fitment? I.e non xenon.

Yes, the heater elements come on with the rear window de-mister. Look in the owners handbook :-)

Colour Coded Mirrors were standard on all RS's. They should also be heated too, so if an owner before you has replaced them it looks like they've gone the cheap non CC'd, non heated option.

Could be wrong but I think so, its also called a cabin filter... it sits between the fan motor and the air vents. Also if your vents don't blow much air bit the motor is running on full that can indicate a blocked filter - leaves, dirt etc.

Even with a coked up cat and possible dodgy lambda I still averaged 43.7 on the last tank in the RB! Have you thought of looking at your driving style? Could it be better? EDIT: just realised its a 1.2. 8v I assume? They're renowned for pathetic MPG... however I still suggest the above.

It might not be the hole in the mirror but the gap where it pivots I.e to push the mirror against the car. Try changing the pollen filter on the car, that might help thr fogging issue.
