Why would you have an exhaust made that couldn't easily have a cat put back in, bearing in mind you have to have one for an mot (yes I know there are 'those' mot stations but what if something changes?)
I also wouldn't be put off by amount of owners, it's not uncommon with these cars that people buy them and then realise they cost money to run and insure etc. also belt changes are expensive (compared to other cars)
I drove a v6 zs and it was a lovely car. I've never been a fan of the zr's although I did look into them at one point.
As a work in progress this is good. Keep on with it, as if it makes the missus happy then your happy.
29-30 mpg isn't bad, especially with a manifold and induction kit on.
I would think the manifold has made it sound like that, the induction kit will give a roar, but the manifold adds a rorty raspy sound usually. (I could be wrong though)

Update time.
Had noticed the car sat funny at times, the front would be different heights either side. Initially thought it was down to the surface, so decided to get some replacements and have a look.
Well here were the springs I removed, dangerous much??
And then the fun began, took the rear...
Well I'm yet to pick it up (kids ftl!!) but it's done!! Thank god for that. Don't know how much it cost, that's the worrying bit, but at least it's back, safer than before and I'll be driving it tomorrow!!! :)
£40 minimum. I've read of people paying £10 and £20 to have It done but my car was pretty much stuck where it was, didn't fancy driving it anywhere. He's a good bloke though so...
Over a barrel sorings to mind. 😧
On a plus note, picked up a bolt almost identical to the original but...
It certainly is. It's in the hands of a mechanic who I'm hoping will succeed in drilling it out so I can get it back. Not heard anything yet and man do I miss the car! Would've been quicker and cheaper for me to replace the axle!! Not necessarily easier though as its all the messing with the...
