I started with a 5mm hss and it didn't even begin to cut in and then snapped in half!!
I must add I'm doing this lay on the floor.
Would welding a bolt or similar on it work? Along with lots of wd40 and heat work? There appears to be some red stuff on the thread so I'm guessing that's some...
Hi all
If I need to replace my rear axle, can it be swapped for another one without having to beeld the brakes etc?
The rear discs each look bolted to the axle on square backing plates, can these be just unbolted as a whole and fitted on the new beam?
Does everything else just unclip?
Thanks
Whilst undoing my rear shocks the drivers bolt snapped off almost flat with the axle. I have attempted to drill it out, even with a hss drill bit this was useless.
I now have a car that is off the road, and need to get it back working.
Can anyone help me with ideas please, preferably without...
When I had my 182 I had the centre silencer removed and a pipe welded in. This was due to the centre silencer rusting but it added a really nice noise. Not too loud but nice.
Mine has been replaced for a 'clicky' screen, and my wife's has been replaced for a faulty charging port. We haven't had the memory issue though. Other than that we love them!
Going to try some of those extractor things tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath though!!
Fingers crossed as always. No tyre places around by me (cannock) have the removal thing. :(
Im in the same situation although I'm yet to get mine off!! Idiot tyre fitter with a buzz gun did them up too tight and bent the pins. This means that a hand tool slips and a buzz gun won't budge it!! :(
I doubt damage could be caused although bearings 'could' be affected in a very small way...
I say go for 182 wheels. They look larger due to the spokes and are a much nicer wheel imo. Green has been done before on a black car, hence the @Spinksy comment. Lol
Maybe a nice red? Looking forward to seeing what you do with it though mate. You could even think about a 197 facelift, you could...
I've noticed that there is noticeable rattle in the car at idle. I wouldn't say its a lot or annoying really. The benefits I'm seeing are worth it to be honest. Much more precise gearchange, less engine movement which means less jerkiness especially when engine braking and pulling off. So imo...
Thanks to @chris powell i bought a powerflex dogbone and eventually (after making a thread of my woes) got it fitted today.
What a difference it makes, anyone thinking of doing so I recommend it!! Such a nicer feeling to the gearchange for such little outlay.
Few more jobs to do but I'll...
Thank you for all the advice. Well the novice won this battle!!
I went out, put the car on axle stands and came at it from the front. Eventually got it out and the powerflex one fitted.
What a difference! Tighter gearchange, less movement in gearstick and feels like it puts the power down...
This is beautiful and I am now seriously considering having mine done in white. I think Renault missed a trick with white 1*2's!
Although saying that they would be common as muck!!
Right, I'm a bit of an idiot but here goes.
I went out, jacked up my car (ph2 172) put axle stands under and began to change my dogbone mount for a powerflex one. I could undo the big end easily but the gearbox end wouldn't budge. I was Using all my strength and it just wouldn't budge. How on...
