I got a 550D last Monday and can say it's an awesome camera, I'm also a first-timer into DSLR's :) The stock 18-55mm lens feels good, and I'm currently looking at getting a 50mm and a 55-250mm!

Surely you'd be better off just buying another drive and backing up onto that? DVD's are old hat, waste of time and effort when you can plug a drive in, backup in a few minutes and job done.

Well I went for a 550D, I liked the idea of rotatable screen but for the difference in price I just didn't see it, maybe that's just me! As I'm aware they're essentially the same apart from that and some other minor things, so went for the 550D :) I was actually going to get the 600D, but...

Seems like a silly question, but the two usual "screws", or at least I thought they were screws have some sort of triangle head on them, do they just pull off or something? Or do I actually need a special screwdriver just for the numberplate? I've got some fancyplates to put on and am surprised...
