The escort cosworth in standard 227bhp form gets to 100 in 18 secs which is standard 172 territory,An evo would trounce it and so would the V6.
Although they pounce of the line with 4wd and get to 60 in 5.7 secs the 4wd kills the power big time.Which would explain when i race my mate in his...
You would be suprised how crap the cossies are against new cars of today
A guy at work has a mallard green one at work, its very clean but its not as fast as youd think....he had it RRd at aldon auto in merry hill and it made a solid 260bhp and its a stage 1 tune i think.....he pulls about 3...
Too expensive,im not sayiny there old but dont forget there is now a 182 with cup bits and a 182 cup.The depreciation on a car like this would be big in say 2 years time when you can be looking at a 182 for 8.5 k for example, what will the previous model be worth then, even though its a 53 reg its...
I do hope its not the motors on the washer pump
They are a common fault, they work on a reversable motor. When you select front it spins up one way and the rear selection makes it spin the other. These parts break real easy....Had it done on mine not long after i bought it.And to top it off you...
but surely the only reasons for TD is econmy.Faced with a similar price bracket to petrol cars the choice would be for economics only.I dont see any 182 kitted DCI clios or focus RS TDCI options

I live 50 yards from the pub
I can walk to work in 10 mins, this is why i bought a pterol car....If i had to go to brum everyday from telford then i would have a focus tdci or something. Also you get better tax relief from a diesel so i would have one for that reason also

Standard vs standard its close i think but the willys take the mods better and if your on a budget the willy makes sense ,its still a cracking car.
Straight line theres not a lot in it but the 172 will pull a little standard with the 182 a bit more,im still yet to see a willy do 0-60 in 6.3...
optimax works,my car feels dead with tesco fuel in......every now and agin i get the "maybe their right"sydrome and i test the car on both....the optimax is way more responsive than normal petrol

If you want to be really lazy like me,wash your car then get the leaf blower out of the shed and go over your car with it...Takes all the water off and blows it out of the door and window bits.:)
To me there is nothing worse than waxing your car to a nice shine then water comes from somewhere...
there is also the small problem with fitting them, they can be very dangerous in the wrong unexperienced hands...IIRC they taake a 20,000 volt spark or something like that to light the gas thingy....If you fit this wrong or let damp in or whatever you may find you wake up with a piece of toast...
had my april 02 172 for 2 years and 22k and its silent inside...really pleased with it..appart from the cheap selanoid clicking noise when the wipers are on auto..

You will move on in leaps and bounds moving from a vtr to a willy...even 10yrs on they are showing a lot of cars how to do things...If you stay on the forum "the jesus",martin, flaming monkey and 2live will tell you ~~~ you need to know(amongst others)
