Could be your alternator has givin up.. which means that it will happen again soon as there is no recharging of the battery..
best way to check is switch the car off, using a multimeter measure the voltage should be about 12 volts.. now start the car and measure again.. should now be about...

The steering wheel on the mk1 was alcantara (a bit dodgy if you ask me cause it always wears down and becomes shiney)
the mk2 steering wheel was leather. I agree about the performance thing .. no difference. The alloy pedals are nice.. when your feet are wet they dont slip on the pedals..
Well i think I will pay a friendly visit to Renault and see what they say.. hopefully they will be more than happy to sort out the problem.
Its not really that bad just now as it cant really be seen, I am just worried that it will spread right the way along the side skirts..

Dont be put off, I got my 2002 mk2 172 with 5600 miles on the clock for 9000 yes mine was an import but its still a bargin.
Only thing I can say is have a really good look around it.. get it HPId.. even an rac/aa inspection if your not sure.

I raced an st170, and I won.. but I cant really put down them that much cause I didnt win by much.. pulled away quite a bit in 2nd and then pulled away more slowly through the gears..
but I did hit the limiter in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear which would have slowed my accelleration down a bit.
ye we all quote 0-60 times.. and if it had of been that type of race I guess you would have won.
but in normal driving there really has to be quite a bit of a difference power wise to make a visable difference on the road and through the twisties.
as evil ice said, I just use the fader to bring in a little rear fill.. but that is all my rears do.. if your gonna spend money on speakers get the front ones upgraded.
