The 'I work in I.T' thread

AI is killing us on the recruitment side. We’re doing offshore interviews and the number of candidates blatantly using it is off the scale. We had someone typing the interview questions into their laptop and just reading what it said 😂

    Alpine steering wheel controls

Connects2 do a range of harnesses for the Clio, one of these will work depending on what the original head unit was. https://connects2.com/products/steering-wheel-control-interfaces/vehicle/Renault/Clio You’ll also need the Alpine specific patch lead...

Most important thing is what colour it is, ‘cos that tells you how many rams it needs, or something.

    New, Fully Electric Renault 5

I think they’re going to be a big hit. They look great, they’re decent to drive, they’ve got good efficiency, they’re well packaged thanks to being on a dedicated EV platform, they’re relatively affordable. Mini have lost the plot with their new design IMO so that segment is ripe for the taking.

    New, Fully Electric Renault 5

The idea was to give people certainty over the battery cost because in the early days the worries over battery longevity were so strong. Don’t think anyone does it any more.

I’m sure they’ll be immediately available on eBay at entirely reasonable prices 😂

The Gaming Thread (General Gaming Jibba Jabba)

Next Doom game comes out in May. This looks right up my street, never got on with Eternal because it was so frenetic and if you weren’t constantly in the air you were toast.

    The Retro Gaming Thread

This is a little bit of a thread resurrection, but if anyone is into retro gaming I can’t recommend this place enough: https://www.retrocollective.co.uk/ I went last year and volunteer there now. It’s not some pokey load of boring static displays, it’s hands on retro gaming and they have some...

    ❤️ ClioSport Festival 2025 @ Anglesey Circuit ❤️

Tried Airbnb? Depends how close you want to be, there was one that was really close but unfortunately that‘s gone. Some b*****d who’ll probably cancel at the last minute anyway must have grabbed it. What a prick.

So let me get this straight, meet you bunch of reprobates in real life? Like actually speaking to real-ish people? In the real world?

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Looks like nVidia are claiming big performance gains by using the AI cores to drive a new version of DLSS. Interesting to see the shift from brute rendering performance to frame generation continuing to pick up pace. Benchmarks should be interesting!

Sim Rigs - Let’s see yours

Installed a load cell mod to my Moza brake pedal today. Bloody hell, what a difference! Braking is suddenly so much more natural. Easy to fit too, well, apart from undoing the fuckups I made when I originally built the rig 😂...

Ah, the meeting of doom. “Catch-up” or similar. The only thing worse is a sudden team meeting called “team update” 😂

    Illegal Number Plates

If it’s already gone that far then the time for discretion from the police is gone, it’s in the system now. From what you’ve said I think you’ll just have to pay the fixed penalty.

    The VR thread

Never use my VR headset for gaming, it’s far too good at p**n to waste time with s**t like that.

    Old Games Collections.

HL:2 20th anniversary documentary, really interesting The other thing that HL:2 did was usher in the Steam era, so it’s not only a legendary game it was also pivotal in changing the whole distribution model. Ah, the days when you pretty much had to buy a new GPU for the new hotness 😂

So much this 😂 Used to play it multiplayer over a null modem cable when it came out. Happy times.

    Old Games Collections.

It’s reeeeely dated now, so many of the mechanics we take for granted only came in with C&C 2. I enjoyed it for the memories but didn’t spend that long with it. Red Alert is where my heart really is!

    New, Fully Electric Renault 5

‘cos it’s the base paint choice and they reckon people with the top spec don’t want it confused with the lower spec. It’ll be some dogshit like that.

    New, Fully Electric Renault 5

These will fly out of the showroom I reckon. Well priced, decent spec, funky looks but not off the wall, they’ll be everywhere. Makes the new mini look like a massively overpriced choice.

The 'I work in I.T' thread

Yeah, I don’t think they care. The company that now owns us also owns the company that the jobs are being offshored to…… ‘tis a cunning wheeze. I will probably be ok for a while because I’ve got mad skillz in our product, but the next few years are going to be rocky. I want to pack it all in...

The 'I work in I.T' thread

I‘ve never seen “t**t” spelled that way before ;) I’m officially a homeworker in my contract, I’m holding on to this job until they fire me, so probably another year, two years tops the way the offshoring is going.

Mouse Recommendations (for Gaming + Productivity)

A bit late, but personally I swear by the MX Master because it’s just so frikking comfortable. For productivity work it is incredible and although obviously not a “gaming mouse” I’ve no complaints on that front, but then I don’t play competitive online shooters……...
