Just ordered one, thanks for the tip. I don't have a trade card, but the code SAVE10 works at checkout and brings the price down to £117

    Everyone loves a good Tank.

Have been, would go again, it's brilliant.

'STOP' and 'OIL PRESSURE FAULT' lights appear when going round corners.

Sludged up or damaged oil pickup, failing oil pump, restriction somewhere else in the oil system (when's the last time it had an oil and filter change?), maybe a oil pressure sensor. That's a potential engine killer so if you're not handy with the spanners yourself I'd get it looked at. If you...

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

I've got an M.2 boot drive, the HDD is just for my Steam folder. I don't play enough games where loading time is a factor for it to bother me.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Not really a “power” PC, but I had a little play with my XPS which I bought during lockdown/graphics card hell as a cheap way to get a 3060ti. The cooling was an absolute joke. Single 80mm exhaust fan, hard drive blocking most of the airflow from the front of the case even though there was a...

What's your favourite car related YouTube channel?

As ever, Sniff Petrol was on point with their satire, probably even more true now than it was in 2019 https://sniffpetrol.com/2019/12/13/under-the-influencer-with-olly-higuys/

What's your favourite car related YouTube channel?

I enjoyed Hoovie more when he was doing proper shitboxes in the earlier videos. Unfortunately he doesn’t seem to really know that much or do proper research about all of the cars so talks some total garbage sometimes. It’s kinda hard to empathise with someone who’s buying cars worth hundreds...

    Oil question

The E90 has an oil level sensor so will bong at you when it needs a top up, but yes, valid question if we're dealing with someone who thinks they have no way of finding out what oil their car takes......

    Track oil consumption

Semi vs full synth isn't likely to make a difference unless you're changing the weight of the oil too - if it's getting through that much oil then it's either leaking it out or burning it in the cylinders and that's not down to whether it's synthetic oil or not.

    Subaru 22b on Collecting Cars

Anyone fancy a nice Scooby? https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1998-subaru-impreza-sti-22b-3 Be quick, just under three hours to go. Oh, and you'll need something north of ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY THOUSAND POUNDS F. M. L.

Renault going all electric from 2025

I don't think there's any point in a total ICE ban. The numbers on the road will drop to the point where the emissions are a drop in the bucket and it would heavily penalise the poorest who tend to drive the oldest, cheapest cars. Politically it will be better to let it just happen over time and...

Renault going all electric from 2025

Given that EV is the future, then in that context yes it absolutely is. ICE isn’t going away, there will be enough out there for decades to come and for those who truly love (and can afford) them they will still have that choice. People still ride horses and drive steam tractors.

It’s a hopeful sign for the future though.

Renault going all electric from 2025

The refuel time is certainly an advantage, but storage and transport is an issue. If you transport hydrogen in existing gas lines it still has to be compressed at the delivery end to be any use for cars and then there are the high pressure tanks needed on the car itself. These are lifed...

Renault going all electric from 2025

Making hydrogen is energy intensive. The maths are pretty simple, you can use power to make hydrogen, compress it, transport it, store it before it is transferred to a car and then use it to power a fuel cell to provide electricity to batteries (or, if you’re crazy and don’t mind NOx emissions...

Renault going all electric from 2025

You might be right, you might not. No-one has made a genuinely driver focused EV yet. In development terms these are very, very early days. Obviously things like heel and toe are dead and gone, but then they only exist to get around the deficiencies of the drivetrain anyway and are a seriously...

Renault going all electric from 2025

It goes on, but the aftermarket always finds a way. Wasn't so long ago that the coding of car modules/ECUs to the car as an anti-theft protection (allegedly) was supposed to be doom for any DIY, but now coding modules is just normal. When the volume is sufficient, those protections will be...
