Tuning-wise, there's a ridiculous amount you can do to them.
A prime example being TDi North's car. It's running just over 1000bhp using a K24 (2.4L Accord engine) with Type R head, various other high-spec bits and a turbo. Standard car uses a K20.
It's the same shape Civic as this fellas...
Yeah, as Scotty said. It seems foolish not to replace both belts if they're even anywhere near due.
That's where the cost is, that Fred and I were on about. :(
It's not a pretty job either, awkward to get to. :(
Get a trolley jack underneath and jack the engine up off the offside mount, also you'll proabably need to bumper off too.
It's on the end of the inlet camshaft, and it controls the valve timing, yeah.
Support the engine from underneath and remove the offside engine mount. Then remove the belt cover. You'll see that one pulley has a spidery-looking thing on the end, that's the dephaser.
Accessory belt runs everything bar the cams, you only have two belts on Clios.
Luckily, it's very easy to change the accessory belt on a 172 Cup, due to the lack of air-con.
I use diluted AG Engine & Machine cleaner and a wheel brush stick to get into all the bits and pieces.
I had a good go at them weekend as mine looked awful. :o
I've got to agree... a little.
It'll happily spin up in second and squirm in third when VTEC comes in, on anything but a perfect surface.
That's why the JDM EP3 is the best option. ;) LSD!
Stunning!
The only UK EP3 i'd have. Nice choice!
You'll never get tired of that engine and gearbox... which is a good job since you'll certainly be working them! ;)
