It could be a coil pack fault, yeah... but it normally runs like a bag of sh*te if that's the cause... and you said that it runs ok when it actually starts?
Does the fuel pump prime when you turn the ignition? Can you hear it?
Red callipers. Recaros. Stickers. Anthracite wheels. F1 Team plaque. All standard...
Of course you can spec a 197 to be nearly identical, but to me, the R27 just looks a little more special... i'm not sure why.
I've removed mine as the induction setup i have doesn't feed from there. So it's just dead weight.
The people that have removed them say that it's worth it though, but i personally couldn't tell you, as i've never ran the standard airbox.
It's an electrically operated box of tricks down by your nearside wheel arch, at the front.
It restricts airflow to the airbox under part-load throttle and on cold starts.
Removing it makes the inlet tract less restrictive, and the car slightly more responsive.
It's a bumper-off job to remove...
Hi.
Your best bet is to go for a one owner, low mileage R27. That's the F1 Edition that you want. With the market being as rubbish as it is, you'll be able to get a good deal.
Go for one with as high a spec as you can afford. Xenons, Climate etc.
They're the best-looking 197 too.
Very similar looking to the OE airbox, just open-ended to feed from the grille. It's a little noisy but only on full throttle.
It's a lot better, and quieter than the Viper that the car came with.
