Technically pilot holes with a drill are not needed either. I just screwed mine on in about 5 minutes a few track days ago and it's been fine ever since.

Same engine, higher state of tune, 100bhp/litre is never going to be economic. Bigger car, bigger hole needs to be punched through the air, more mass, requires more fuel to get it moving. Simple.
