I seriously want to go to Renault and buy a Nimbus Cup tomorrow........shame I have no money to do said plan!
I used to hate them, but in the right colours (Blue or Grey) they look amazing!
Fancy a swap?!
Do it mate.
I'm 19 and had mine about 3 months, seriously it's amazing. Can't really describe how good they are in every sense, especially for the money.
If you can though, wait until after christmas to buy one as they will be a fair bit cheaper in my opinion with people panicking about the...
I've not read most of the second page, so not sure if its been covered but I'm currently using RedStuff's on the front of mine, and I rate them highly!
Once you have used then 2/3 times, nbot even from speed so they warm slightly they bite really well, would definately recommend them...
I read all of this in the hospital waiting room the other day, simply awesome.
Really good info, and obviously a lot of experience.
Bookmarked for me :)
If it was me mate I would just go for standard.
I wouldnt trust stuff that I hadn't heard of as far as aftermarket stuff, Brembo etc.
Standard are more than up for the job, I thought my 1.2 brakes were better than my 182 ones!
Right, just been out again, but I'm completely confused.
Part of me thinks it might be a slightly loose exhaust just rattling slightly when I come to stop.
But, when reversing slowly, on either full lock left or right it does the noise too?!
^ yeah the back lip was bigger, but still not overly bad.
Got a local mechanic gonna come for a spin with me tomorrow I think to see if he can work it out. Failing that I'll get Birchdown to have a quick poke around on Friday if they have time.
^ thanks mate.
They all seem fine condition wise but I'll admit I'm not too clued up on how they look.
I'll be replacing the rear discs at it's service in April next year, so I think I'll get some uprated rear pads aswell, if these ones arent screwed already.
Still happening, I took the rears apart, pads out and cleaned, discs checked, i took the surface rust off the edges, then with a file just knocked the sharp off the lips.
The lips were pretty small though, and the discs looked in decent condition :S
In reverse when braking it sounded a bit...
~All sorted and taken for a quick spin, feels fine :)
Retaining screws came out easily, wernt even in what I would call tight!
Thanks to Gray for the help though, though i would have to leave it!
Nah just the fronts for now mate.
Thanks for the help Gray. I've spoke to my mate about the susp setting and he says he'll let me know when hes got some free time. Really sorry I havent got in touch, my memory is shite.
Is it as simple as I'm expecting?
Caliper off and out the way, old disc off, new disc on?
Do I need to cipper slip the rear of the disc a bit on the mating face?
Thing is with these, when the bumpers are resprayed these are hardly ever replaced by body shops. So could be a sign with these missing that the car has been crashed.
When looking for my car I saw 1 without these, put me off straight away.
Why can people not read on this forum?!
He said in the first post he knew about machining them!
Should look good mate, get some pics up once they are on, getting them resprayed in a different colour or just leaving as they are? What colour is your car?
I bought the ktec ones recently, getting them fitted soon.
Everywhere else had to get them made specially, taking upto 2 weeks, Ktec sent them the same day and I got them the following morning.
Depends how soon you want them I guess, but would 100% recomend k-tec.
The bearing goes on last mate, the metal plate goes directly on top of the spring.
Where abouts are you, im sure someone local will offer to help, if you're near derby i can give you a hand
There a bit of grinding when i brake coming from the rear, only does it from about 5 - 0 mph, so gonna get the brakes to bits and see whats wrong.
I'm hoping its just something stuck between the pad and disc.
Was gonna go lower and sort out the rear grinding, and fit my new front discs, but the rain has come so stuff it, might get round to it tomorrow.
Next plan is get the wheels shot blasted clean then do a proper refurb on them and get them looking mint.
