    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Perfect! Waiting to hear back from EFI to see what they can do.

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Yeah it is a bit odd, like I was expecting it to be a constant reading not all over the place on all ur cylinders. I’ve messaged EFI to see if they know what could be the cause. Also asked about availability so I can see when you are free. In my mind it has to be the base map in the ECU as...

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

I’ve rechecked the TPS wiring and happy that is all correct. Checked for continuity between the signal wire and ECU plug. And then saw the voltage drop in the signal wire when the throttle is operated. I also with the advise from barnesautos to remove the TPS, start the car and manual move the...

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

I think it is fueling perfectly..... Haha. No wonder it is running rough af, it is like this over all 4 bodies. And giving it a bit of throttle it sounds smoother but isn't on the gauge. Bit annoying as I wanted to get it warm but I can't get it to idle properly. It idles too low (no more...

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Checked the TPS wiring as per @barnesautos instructions and happy that is was the right way round. I managed to get it to idle without holding on the throttle. It is still far too low at 750rpm and wants to stall and is a bit lumpy. It still has a slight miss when revving too and smokes a lot...

Ph1 to Ph2 Throttle Position Sensor Conversion

Tha gas the plan, work out where pin 43 goes. I presume when you say activate the throttle to test the signal that is just measure the voltage over the wire in pin 43 when I press the throttle pedal and it should read something? Electronics are not my forte! Hoping to finish work a bit earlier...

Ph1 to Ph2 Throttle Position Sensor Conversion

And this is the only marking I can see on the TPS (might be one in the other side but I’ll remove it when I get a chance to look at this later in the week)

Ph1 to Ph2 Throttle Position Sensor Conversion

I’ve just checked what I was sent and it agrees with the Red to Orange but it says black to begin then green to white I’ve done as per the instructions I was sent as tbh that was all the info I was given!! And the fact that the TPS I was sent would fit directly onto a Ph2 loom. Have I been...

Ph1 to Ph2 Throttle Position Sensor Conversion

Amazing info thanks. I’ll try and get around to looking at this one evening this week or weekend. I did look and according to the KTec website it is a P&G TPS as you suggested, although I forgot to look at the sensor itself.

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

A massive shout out to @barnesautos for his time and help today. He knew exactly why the fuel pump was not running - my instructions from KTec were incomplete. I needed to move another pin on the ECU. So now I don't have a dodgey wire running from the battery to the fuel pump lol. Had it...

Fuel Pump Not Working wih GEN90 ECU

For ayone who stumbles accross this thread in the future with the same issue, as above Move Pin 68 to Pin 9. Although Pin 9 already as a wire going to it so just need to remove it and ignore it.

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

I’ll message you first before I book it in in case you’d re free haha. But yeah, give me a week to make sure on its actually ready to be booked in with the rough af idle as I don’t want to get there and be like them day “nahh can’t map this it’s s**t”

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Me too!! Want to be a bit more confident with it before I’ll get it booked in. And I’ll speak with EFI first to see what they say about common things that go wrong when mapping so I can check first. But it has new everything so I’m hopeful it will be ok

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Fitted the trumpets and the cover in the ECU wires. Engine bay looks proper smart now! Still undecided if I want to run the air filter or just get some mesh to sandwich behind the trumpets to stop any of the big debris. Had it idling for a bit longer while I dropped it off the little caravan...

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Ok so this happened today after work It works!! We’ll sort of. Runs proper rough, has no idle and smokes a lot. And those with a keen eye will spot a wire from the battery in the passenger window that goes to the fuel pump as for some reason it won’t get a feed so it has got a constant...

Fuel Pump Not Working wih GEN90 ECU

Went to start my Ph1 172 or the first time after fitting the ITB's. It has a GEN90 ECU in it now and as per the instructions I got from KTec I swapped the ECU pins around. I am told the ECU came wth a base map on it. When I came to start it, turned the ignition on and the fuel pump did not...

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Spare half hour today so I did some finishing jobs. The p-clips for the fuel return line arrived so fitted them. It is a lot tidier now and managed to cable tie the hose out of the way of the alternator belt I took some inspiration from when I had RC cars and putting the electronics inside...

    Dirty winter cars thread 22/23

Not washed my E60 for about 6 weeks. Did about 700miles on the motorway in a week, most of which were in torrential rain. Then I left it at Heathrow last weekend and it was a bit grim. It was all sticky and that from jet fuel residue. Hard to get photos of how grim it was I caved in today...

    Gen90 DIY mapping/calibration thread

Nice one thanks. It was either your truck or borrow a trailer and tow it but I have never towed anything before so would be a little nervious doing it as my first time. Not going to get any more time on it for a few weeks though now but the one thing to do it put the new ECU in.

    Gen90 DIY mapping/calibration thread

I’ll take a read later. But I’ve been told by KTec that once I move the pins in the ECU connector about (gave me a diagram) then it should fire into life….should. Mine has a base map and enough to get it running to get it up to temp to check before mapping. I won’t be able to drive it but hoping...

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Two more jobs ticked off the list this weekend. Didn't have a lot of time over the weekened but I could have done it in one day if I didn't have to go out this morning. Throttle cable now attached and works. Got a nice feel to the pedal too. Was a right pain to do! But that is what you get...

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Spent some time this morning ticking off a few more jobs on the list: New throttle cable fitted (this definately wasn't done while I was on a work call with my laptop in the garage and just listening on headphone....honest) - although it isn't attached to the throtle boddies yet Wired up the...

    Iwatch recording exercise?

I've fallen off my bike a few times and mine didn't bat an eyelid. Used a hammer and thought I fell over and was trying to contact my emergency contacts! Didn't realise it was doing this right until the last moment and managed to stop it.

    Catch Tank Placement

Battery is still in the standard place, I haven't thought about moving it yet but might do one day. You are right it would free up loads of space. Actually had it out the ther day and without that and the front slam pannel it is quite spacious in there! The bracket thing where you have got yours...

    Passenger window regulator - Ph1

You need to have the passenger switch plugged in on the drivers side to get the passenger switch to work on the passenger side. No idea why they thought that was a good idea

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Progress has been slow, not helped with the bad weather and waiting on some parts. A catch tank, PMS breather plate, fuel pressure regulator housing and new 4bar pressure regulator and a KTec fuel rail turned up With a break in the weather yesterday and some help from my brother to fit the...

    Catch Tank Placement

I need to mount my catch tank and struggling to get ideas. I have removed the air box strap mounting thing by the battery so was thinking of adding a second bolt hole on the battery cover so it is a bit more sturdy and then putting the catch tank onto that somehow Just had a look now and it...
