Magnecore Leads - clear plastic protection?

Fitted some Magnecore leads, and on leads 1 and 2 at the spark plug end there is a small winding of clear plastic around the lead where it is longer on lead 1. The picture that came with them were the blue ones and didn't show this bit. I am presuming it is some form of protection? And do I...

    Kit's Ph1 172

Had a bit of a tinker with the car today. Fitted the freshly painted inlet manifold, cam cover and solid top mount. Took the opportunity to change the coil pack and leads. Afte the failure of the last coil pack and leads I bought, this time I opted for a genuine Renault coil pack and Magnecore...

    The PH1 172 Appreciation Thread.

It's yours @DannyR ??! Have seen it on eBay. If it were a little closer I would be tempted. What is wrong with the paint work for it to be not up to your standard? And not the only black one on eBay with a Ph2 rear bumper! Well there were two the other week.

Engine Mount - bolt sizes and swapping pointers

So it has to be the "genuine" item? I am sure I can sort a washer out aas there are plenty kicking about in the workshop, or re-use the washer. Just the heads looked old compared to the fresh painted look I wanted to change

Engine Mount - bolt sizes and swapping pointers

Sounds like I had it sorted in my mind!! Yeah will spread the weight, I have seen horror stories of jacks going through/damaging sumps and that, but I will find a suitable place to support it. The engine tray has been off serveral times, it was off last week when I changed the oil so pretty...

Engine Mount - bolt sizes and swapping pointers

That's a better price! Tbh I was only going to go to Screwfix or similar if there was no reason to keep the originals Any idea the Renault ones are stupid money?

Engine Mount - bolt sizes and swapping pointers

Have got a Vibratrechniques engine mount to go onto the car. It was second hand so I painted it to match the inlet colour (all to be fitted hopefully next week!). Looking at the current bolts that hold the engine mount to the car they look a bit scabby compared to the fresh painted stuff...

    Weight

There were two silvers - Iceburg and Titanium (correct me someone if I am wrong!). I have a Titanium and that had a stock steel bonnet. I was under the impression that it was selected Titaniums that had the ally bonnet, aka whatever was to hand at the time of fitting is what I have read several...

Wasn't it only some Titatnium Ph1's that came with the ally bonnet? As mine didn't come with one but I have put one on.

    Black Sheep flocking - I've lost £130

I thought it was him that owned it? Thought they stopped trading before this summer? And I presume they stopped trading due to so many poor reviews and that about customer service and him "taking people's money". Somehow I got lucky when I got stuff from them last winter. Top dash, steering...

    Kit's Ph1 172

Car got a bit of love this weekend - oil and oil filter were swapped and I also changed the pre-cat lambda sensor Had a missifre issue under acceleration and it was suggested that the lambda sensor is the issue; I would have not guessed that for ages! However after changing it the car has...

    Missfire / hesitation under acceleration

For anyone in the future who may read this with the same issue, I changed the pre-cat lambda and it has seemed to solve the issue. The car is totally different to drive, so much better - it actually pulls a lot more and more responsive. Quite surprised as it suggests it had been gone for some...

    Dan's Ph1 172 Daily Driver

Looks like a nice example of a Ph1....keep it that way!! I have a sneaky feeling they are going to go up in value soon. I need to get a second one to use as a daily. Changing the throttle cable is easy, just a bit fiddly. A bit easier with two people. I would also recommend getting a genuine...

    Gloucester(shire) (old) spots

I have also seen said LY. Totally ignored me she did :expressionless::confused: @jezer101 I've used Trade n Save by Tesco for my can belt change. Brilliant service from them. I will be using them again for specialist jobs I can't do at home. I wish I could have got my car to them when the...

What have you done to your car today ???

Changed pre-cat lambda and did an oil and oil filter change. Love servicing the car, feels so satisfying doing it and it's a great opportunity to have a once over of everything to make sure it's still good.

    Injector opinion please??

There was someone selling single genuine injectors on eBay recently at a good price, think I paid sub £35 each back in March. Also if you need them now and can't wait for postage ECP have them at a good price, they do online at least and then either ask for the online price or click and collect.

    Didn't know he sold them

    What Lambda Sensor

Have a misfire/hesitation issue under accelration which has been suggested that it could be the Lambda sensor (couldn't use the code reader this weekend to see if it threw a code as the EML isn't on as my step dad let someone borrow it so that plan was scuppered). Got bored so looked on ECP...

    Kit's Ph1 172

Not much happened this weekend reall, cleaned the car...it was clean before I cleaned it! Haha. Fitted some new Cree LED side light bulbs as reccomended by Dr Jekyll However when I came to fit the one it fell out of the holder and into the light :weary: so had to take the bumper and that off...

Yeah I should probably invest in some live reader thing seeing as the car is being kept now.

    Missfire / hesitation under acceleration

Not sure if the reader at home will give live data like that, think it could just be a simple "fault code reader". Will give a gander tomorrow. Didn't even think lambda, just thought it was spark/ignition related

    Missfire / hesitation under acceleration

Umm maybe a stupid question, but how do I do this? Unless you mean plug it into an ODB reader and see if anything has been flagged up. If it is a lambda I am happy to swap even if I am unsure as the plan for this winter/next year is to have a rebuilt engine so new parts like that don't bother...

    Missfire / hesitation under acceleration

Driving along and giving it a bit of a boot full the car stops, no acceleration, sounds like a missfire on multiple cylinders and the car bogs down. This is when foot is too the floor. Then all of a sudden, about 5 seconds of it fannying about, it kicks back into life or take foot off for a...

    Daniels Blue 182.

Why not make your own seat frames? I have homemade ones on mine and I have never had an issue. They are three peices of ~5mm thick steel in a square arranegement and the fourth bit is a part of the original seat runner. I have never had an issue with these on seating position being wonkey...

    Inlet / rail guard

The inlet has two "gaskets" - a normal gasket when it meets the lower inlet and a rubber ring thing on the top, which I presume is for a breather. Didn't know that a Ph2 has a rubber ring gasket seal thing for the throttle body.
  26. KitsonRis

    Inlet / rail guard

Also get new throttle body and inlet gaskets too, might as well replace them when they come off. IIRC from when I did mine the throttle body one fell to pieces and was a nightmare to get off the sealing face.

Going to replace Suspension parts - some tips?

A tip for doing the work, get both front wheels of the ground, so then you are not fighting with the anti-roll bar I only say this because I spent hours trying to get the driveshaft/lower shock bolts in with just one wheel in the air. Proper senior moment and when I was told about it I felt a...

    Kit's Ph1 172

Right, so it is that time again I pulled my finger out and start doing something with the car! This is now made a lot easier as I have got a new job starting next month which means I can move back in with my parents for a while to "save up for a house deposit".....aka waste it on the car and...

    Jekyll's RB182 Progress Thread

Now you say the side light bulbs you initially got are rubbish!! I have just purchased some after your initial reccomendations :persevere: I will fit them and when or if they blow I will swap for the better ones, just keep some spares in the glove box.

    Which oil filter removal tool??

ooo that looks even better than the things I saw, and a better price and I can collect Nectar points!! Yeah its a Ph1 172. Anyone able to confirm the Mk3 and Mk2 are the same filter? Presume you have this tool?
