    Kit's Ph1 172

The job list is slowly going down! Both front arches have been cleaned. Just waiting for the ducting to make my brake cooling stuff then I can refit the arch linings. About to order new brake pads, gear box oil and brake fluid. Need to wait for a warmer day to finish off the painting parts...

Sweet. I'll be paying Renault a visit then. Do you have a part number for these @Mar172 ?

    Bumper and arch lining fixings

Do Renault sell all the front bumper and arch lining fixings as like a job lot? I'm after all the screws, including those metal clips they go in, bolts, the plastic push things in the arch linings, the lot Somehow most of mine have disappeared over the years and with it all off I thought I would...

    Wheel wax???

How hard wearing is that Raceglaze stuff? This looks very easy to apply too. The adverts and descriptions I've seen for the Mint Rims is a bit clearer and states high temperatures. I'm not into car detailing so was after a few product names to look for.

    Wheel wax???

Need to treat/coat my new wheels. From recommendations from my brother who loves cleaning cars to go with the Gtechniq C5 sealant (I've used a few of their products and like them a lot) and then he suggested also using a hard wax on top. He used Poorboys Nattys Paste for the body of his car but...

    Kit's Ph1 172

Got a bit of work done over the past few weekends. Took the arch liners off and was presented with this mess ALl cleaned up now. One reason why I wanted to do this job was to remove the 16 years of grime and to have something that looks a little flash Will be givn another once over before...

Have a look at Renparts on eBay for injectors. They are a very good price, sub £35 each if I remember right. Im sure I paid less than £95 for three last summer.

    Ph1 172 misfire

Have you checked the wires going to the coil pack? As it looks like mine have been trapped, probably by the inlet manifold, at one point as there is a small repair on them. Also is it just a mussfurecat idle or over the entire rev range? Could try and see if there is a spark on this cylinder...

    Ph1 172 misfire

Same as in what....the missfire is still on the same cylinder or the missfire moves? IIRC there is potential for the fuel rail gaurd to clamp the injector wires if not in the correct place so this could be an issue.

    Ph1 172 misfire

If you have unplugged an injector and the idle is no different then it's a dodgey injector. Have you tried to swap an injector around - swap this "bad" one for a good one and do the same test. If the problem still exists on the same cylinder then I would say it's the loom/wiring/things to do...

Ph1 Throttle Cable Replacement...help and advice

Gains on what? The enlarged TB or ITBs? As minimal for the enlarged one, but with a re-worked butterfly etc may help the sticky issue if there is scoring/marks on the inner surface which will be bored out. I have a power figure I am aiming for but other engine work is being done this year to...

Ph1 Throttle Cable Replacement...help and advice

I swaped the TB for one that was known not to stick. I think gudger12345 is still breaking his Ph1, the TB might be available on this. (Or if you can wait about 18months I will have ITBs by then and my TB will be available.....) I still have the sticky one which I keep meaning to take apart for...

I could have sworn they are 25mm!! I've told people they are 25mm. Oh well. Will get info on the rears though later this weekend

    mintno1's PH1 172 Progress Thread

Yes they are. The new wheels have more of an offset on them so they might be at a push to fit under the arches with the 25mm spacers. I can have a look over the weekend to what the rears are (car and spare parts are kept at my dad's and I am not there until boxing day). Nothing wrong with the...

Mk2,Ph1 Cable Accelerator/ Throttle up and down like a yo-yo

Don't worry, I went through the same pain as you! Was a nightmare trying to pinpoint what it was. I still have the old TB which I might take apart and see what is what with it

    mintno1's PH1 172 Progress Thread

What spacers are you after? If you can wait until January I will have a set of 25mm H&R bolt to hub spacers and a set of 15mm (I think, could be a 5mm and a 10mm to make 15mm) behind the hub rear spacers which I am not going to need. And +1 on th Fatty IK, adds a bit more drama to the driving...

Mk2,Ph1 Cable Accelerator/ Throttle up and down like a yo-yo

is it only holding revs when you gently let off the throttle? Like if you are holding it at a constant speed or lifting off to coast to pull up to a stop? Can you get it to hold the high revs by manually opening the throttle by hand and not with the pedal/cable? You may need to open it and then...

Mk2,Ph1 Cable Accelerator/ Throttle up and down like a yo-yo

For the sake of £30 I would be tempted to put a new one in. A new TB from Renault is +£300, which is stupiud money.

Any recommendations for a car cover?

Make sure you get one that has straps that go under the car to keep it on. The one I have doesn't and it is a right pain, to the point where I didn't bother using it. Saying that it wasn't an expensive one. I jave also put one of those dehumidifier crustal boxes things that collect water inside...

Air getting in past from a leak from a point past the throttle body?? If you are removing the throttle body I would reccomend getting a new throttle body gasket before you do as you will be extremely lucky if you manage not to damage it tkign it off. Gave the car a bit of a once over as the last time I used it was at Cadwell Park to make sure I didn't kill it! Turns out my basically new front brake pads are nearly gone :confused: They were only replace back in July after Llandow. They were the same pads as what they replaced but...

This is my approach to the possible rot issue...can't see it then it's not there.....haha Although looking at your picture of your inner sill this is similar to how mine were last summer. 172 PH 1 accelerator cable snap ... replace tips

Ph1's are notorious for sticky throttle bodies. I recently replaced mine with a lower mileage non-sticky second hand one and it was fine. A new one from Renault is £300, as the lad behind the counter was about to order one when I asked for the throttle body gasket! i was like £300 for a gasket......
