Only down side its a different driving experience. I love the go karted-ness of the Clio, the golf feels agile but not nearly as much as the Clio. It is a better build car with the doors making that 'doof' sound when you close them.
The power step ups in the Golf (from my understanding are as...
This build would have not have been done if it wasnt for the help of @STEVE.M incredible learnt so much and without his help dont think the engine would of started first time.
Long time no update...
Well its been 2 months since I last updated and I have good news to say the car is up and running. I'll continue the write up including pictures of the process :)
Cleaned up the pistons while they were out:
Cleaned up 75% didnt do a 100% clean pic
Sprayed the block with...
Its been about 12 days now, since the engine sh@ itself.
Been a hectic 12 days constantly working on the car after work, wouldnt have it any other way.... well having a working car would be alright.
Day 1: Engine sh@ itself
Compression tested the cylinders, 200 PSI, 200 PSI, 200 PSI and then...
I assume the keyless works from the ECU and not the receivers in the door. So straight forward swap should work with no issues. ]
Leave the car unlocked and disconnect the battery and I believe the keyless may have to be re-sync'd after.
I have yet to take the block apart but...
- Before the engine went I heard a metal on metal sound (the timing belt was fine and did not slip)
- Compression testing revealed 200 psi on Cylinder 1-3, however cylinder 4 was 35 psi
- Using the 'oil down the spark plug test' it was narrowed down that...
Well unfortunate sad news regarding the Golf...
The engine blew out on me so yeah I guess that's the end of that...
Full rebuild to follow, hopefully it gets done before CS16
Some minor updates
Decided to pull my finger out and get to work on getting the car to the way I want it.
New shark fin aerial made a huge improvement to the aesthetic, function wise its about 75% performance/range of the normal antenna.
OLD:
NEW: I know this isnt the best pic
Also want to...
Tbh I felt the same way I did find them likeable but never enough to own one but now its mine ahah. I mean this ones over 230+bhp so its not slow and weighs about 250kg more than the Clio so not to much. The appeal for this was more for the power you can get for the what I can insure, being 19...
UPDATE TIME! *Audience cheers*
So been a while since I have updated been busy doing the one cosmetic mod I think all MK IV owners should do and that is the MK V boot latch mod.
I didnt intend on doing this mod the opportunity just became available. Basically my good friend had a rear end shunt...
As said connect to the new computer via USB to SATA and transfer data. Although this is a bit hit and miss as if the hard drive is corrupted Windows will ask you to format it which you don't want.
Cars not starting now and its the first time I have started it since removing the boot lid (been sent to a body shop for some work)
I don't know for sure if its the boot and the likely answer is to just try connecting the boot again and I will when I get it back.
Just interested to know if...
Yeah got the 75bhp one so not the worst. Moving to my 240bhp GTi soon so that should be fun.
I assume you're still in your first year of driving what was your insurance like? black box? I paid £3k for mine for first year with black box in 2013
I'd love mine more if it had a 1.6 110bhp or something right? deffo need that. A lot of people say you wont notice the difference coming from 1.2 to 1.6 but my god you do.
Brembo uprated discs and pads make a huge difference. I went down the coilover route because lows and it allows you to go...
In terms of ICE I am in it for the crisp clean audio. I have been through the 'take your back seats out, put 2 speakers as big as the car and put immense power through them' phase.
I have matured onto getting the highest sound quality as possible, the sub box in wheel well was handy because I...
I was practicing some camera techniques using my iPhone and edited together this little clip of the car. Came out pretty good considering I filmed for 30 mins on a friday evening with 6% battery life.
@D4nny unfortunately the insurance of clio 172 and 182 is insanely stupid money in my current situation. 200 is affordable but I'll see later about getting one (after a storm grey one). Will deffo have a 182 track car in the future but for now I to drive something more powerful as I feel the...
(My entry, car: my first car)
You can never forget your first.. The learning curve, the experiences, my first trackday, my first accident, my first speeding ticket through the good all the way to the blue flashing lights we had been through it all.. She found me, she was sad, broken, dirty and I...
The cars days as it stands (before it gets put back to stock) are numbered so will be posting the best of, to remember her. My awesome first car
First throwback CS 2015 my first track day:
Got one more to follow (my profile pic one) as that's my favourite that was taken on the day...
