Nah, the fuel rail guard it just that... a guard. It wouldn't be causing the issue you have. It must be an air leak of some sort. Are the injectors 100% in properly? Might be worth checking the O-rings on the injectors for any damage too.

Buy one of the £30 torque wrenches from Machine Mart or similar, that's what I use Bearings have been fine for 2 years and several track days.
