Ok how about you be a little more specific in what you are asking? What are you wanting to compare? You realise you are on a CLIO forum so will get a biased response don't you?
Most of the newer hot hatches will be 'better', but only if by better you mean better built, better equipment, better...
buy the new one, at least you know the condition of it.
On the decat side of things - yes, on N/A you're unlikely to gain much. I'm running a bigger downpipe and decat but it really helps on a turbo'd car. Plus it only takes 15 minutes to swap it come MOT time on my car - the only downside is...
If it's just to quieten it down, why not have another box added to the system? most exhaust places should be able to weld in a new box for you for a relatively small fee.
However - come MOT time you might struggle unless you know a friendly tester (they are few and far between these days - and...
You sure it was Cat C? Cat C goes on the V5C (logbook) so this would have been taken off you beforehand. You can't get a replacement V5C until a VIC has been completed.
If this is the case, you are driving that car ilegally as far as I know.

You need to know what category write off it is before proceeding.
Cat D - as long as it's road legal you can put it straight back on the road
Cat C - will require a VIC test before being allowed back on the road (and a new MOT I think)
Not quite 90's, this was early in the year 2000 and as close to Max Power as I ever got. Thankfully my taste improved after this car (well I like to think so)
17" wheels, colour coded bumpers and door handles, noisy stainless exhaust, lexus lights, lowered 30mm and 3 cylinder, 1.0 12v power! ha...
It should be fairly obvious if it's coolant or just condensation. When it next leaks, dip some tissue or kitchen roll in the liquid and sniff it, coolant will have a smell, condensation shouldn't really. You might be able to tell from the colour too, Renault Type D is a greeny/yellowy colour
DE or HR engine in this? I'm guessing DE based on the age. I'm sure i've read of con rod trouble on cars with 400+bhp on the earlier DE engine, the later HR engine is good for a lot more power apparently.
Just something to bare in mind if you decide to drop a load of cash on a supercharger kit.
Nice and thorough thread - I like
Aren't 8 and 6 pot brakes a bit OTT for something with this sort of power and torque? Sounds like spending money for the sake of it to me.
Of course - It weon't run right if the inlet isn't fitted properly. However, havign said that, an air leak on the inlet usually causes the revs to raise, not lower.
Lol at all the 'scene' crap. What's the betting you have silver visions and all that s**t? Clio 'scene' is alright though I assume?
I'm not sure lowering and some Audi centre caps gets you full blown 'scene' membership Anyway. Needs more camber and rust to fit in these days.
Here's a very quick video of what the exhaust is doing. Only when it feels like it, and it's only as it drops back down from 2000 revs, it pops at about 1500 revs.
There's one thing though, at least i'vew not had to choose a 'pop's and bang's' map for this to happen, it's just a by-product of...
