    S40 T5 sleeper project

I did look at the Saab's before I bought this (no chance I was going to look at the Vectra!) but once I looked at parts prices, tax, etc etc I just couldn't buy one. I'm not a big fan of how they look either, I much prefer the S40 in the looks department personally.

    Headlights seem a bit rubbish?

Go and take a picture with your headlights on, so we can tell if you have xenons or not

    S40 T5 sleeper project

Its the same in the Focus ST & RS too, it follows the exact same route so it's pretty tried and tested.

    S40 T5 sleeper project

Heat rises though, so it stays pretty cool, that's the standard pipework route. Also it's pre intercooler so doesn't really matter. I've checked and my intake temps are nice and low (last time i checked it was 6 degrees ambient and 9 degrees intake, so working well!)

    S40 T5 sleeper project

What's different about the intercooler? Pretty standard stuff to drop in a bigger front mount. MPG wise, around town about 22mpg, on a run anywhere from 32-40mpg speed depending.

Pressure washer and snow foam lance recommendations

You'll be surprised at how much difference the pressure washer actually makes. I went from a Nilfisk C110 to a Nilfisk C130 and the difference in foam density was amazing!

98p a litre to fill the clio

Nope, just them above. It was a few years ago so maybe Tesco fuel wasn't as popular back then?

Not as much as you'd think Downpipe & decat £400 Intercooler £250 Remap £400 K&N air filter £40 Brakes £350 Pipework £400 I've done all the work (apart form the mapping) so no labour costs so has cost £1,840 That means the car stands me at £5,840 which for 300hp and 350lb-ft of torque, and...

98p a litre to fill the clio

Fifth gear tested it on a Golf GTI. Here's the difference it made: Asda unleaded - 235.8bhp BP unleaded - 236.1bhp BP Ultimate - 236.7bhp Esso Supreme - 240.5bhp Shell V-Power - 240.9bhp So yes, it makes a difference, however you really arent going to notice 5.1bhp on the road, and the...

    French Boost Project

Surely thats the atmospheric pressure, which will be used in the power caluculation. It's one of the correction factors. Its' not the boost pressure! My last RR it was 1002.9

    S40 T5 sleeper project

They're from http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com. The company that makes them is do88.se they came over from Sweden. All fitted now too Noticeable difference in intake noise, turbo whistle, etc. the exhaust not has changed a little - deeper. It feels a bit more urgent too, 2nd gear...

    French Boost Project

Looking great, but isn't the intercooler a little bit oversized for that application?! That wouldn't look out of place on an 800hp Supra!

    S40 T5 sleeper project

I'm thinking that too now; 30mm isn't much. They do a kit which is slightly more on the rear to level out he rake. I'd go for that if I were to do it.

Good point I suppose, not good for heat soak either painting it black!

    S40 T5 sleeper project

Quick question - for full on 'stealth' should I paint the intake pipe black? The OE pipe is black plastic so a quick coat of satin or gloss black may keep it less obvious. It's a shame to cover up a nice shiney pipe but I'm really considering it!

    S40 T5 sleeper project

So, my pipework has arrived - i'm yet to fit it though. Here's the intake pipe, looks like a very well made piece of kit and has both connections. Here's the hard pipe for turbo - intercooler, again looks well made, nice finish and has the appropriate hangers. I've not taken a picture of the...

    Audi TT at Harewood House

It could be worse, mine drives a Pug 207 1.4 petrol. I wasn't aware you could buy a car in this day and age with such little power!

    06-07 reg 197 gearbox issues?

Surely 6k will buy newer than 06/07 now? I paid sub 6k for my R27 2 years ago!

    S40 T5 sleeper project

Dangerous was probably unfair to it. It's only problem is body roll to be honest, so that's what I'd like to improve on. I suppose it doesn't help coming from a 197 R27!

    S40 T5 sleeper project

I've seen uprated rears, but for fronts I could look to the Mazda 3 MPS as that should bolt straight on (and be stiffer i'd have thought) Will they alone be enough do you think or shall I use that as a starting point and see how it goes after that. B6's are designed for use with OE springs...

    S40 T5 sleeper project

So, if I go just down the shock route I have 2 options Bilstein B6's or the Koni FSD kit Anyone have any experience with either?

    S40 T5 sleeper project

Pro kit is 30mm, I think that will be noticable
  27. Chrisgti6

    S40 T5 sleeper project

I never thought about that. What would be the options there then? Will a set of stiffer shocks be enough or will I need to go down the route of bespoke firmer springs? I've toyed with the idea of a set of Koni FSD shocks, they should help with the handling but keep it civilised.

    S40 T5 sleeper project

OEM they will stay then! I am gonna have to lower it at some point though, it's boardering on dangerous at times! Thankfully there was a 'sport' model that was 15mm lower and slightly stiffer so I think I'll get away with something like that.
