Pretty sure you do this using the buttons on the wiper stalk (the trip computer buttons) It'll probably be something like press and hold the button (move to the correct function first) for 10 seconds and it will reset. I'll try and find the correct procedure now and post it up.

Just a quick question... Why are you having it done so early? The interval is 72k or 5 years. You are way off both of those. Seems a waste of money to me. I've not read of a single failure on the 197's personally.

I'm currently averaging only 26mpg! lol That's the average off the trip computer over the last 2k miles. I didn't buy it to worry about getting high MPG!

Mines just about to hit 60k, and touch wood it's all ok. Just usual wear and tear stuff really, couple of drop links, discs & pads, both front springs but other than that all is well. Things I would expect with any car of this age really considering the state of the UK roads!

I've never owned a 1*2, but I think it would be a good move. Your budget will get you a good one if you hold out for long enough. I picked up my R27 within that budget (ok, that was only becuse it needed a couple of tyres and service etc and the guy was going to australia for a year 2 days later)
