Yep it can be dropped in from above but you need to get under it to manoeuvre it. Look at my thread where I post a link to the guide and the exact position it needs to be in.
Fit heatshield whilst starter is loose and from above
I run a scenic shifter that I modified in pretty much the same way as the BMS ones come. I'm running a heatshield and decat but there is room. Have to bend the heatshield around so it doesnt catch and I also sometimes feel the gearstick move if the linkage hits bumps with it sitting lower.

Never really updated this thread, but received the new subframe bolts and got them all bolted in.
Then went around the whole front end with a fine tooth comb and made sure everything important was torqued and everything else was tight. Came across one bellhousing bolt that wasn't fully tight...
Booked in at ATEC for Friday, usually gone to Bram but it's a bit of a long way and unsure on whether I can get the camber I want with bolts and slots alone so thought I'd give them a try. Very local too
Wrapped bundle is for the red aftermarket alarm light in the centre console.
The cable is a speaker connector, does your car have satnav? On satnav models they had a speaker above the cup holder in the middle so appears to be from that.
