Well it all depends on how you drive it mate tbh. If you change gear slower going into 4th you’ll find it’ll last longer. But if you start Larry lead foot and rushing the synchro, it’ll reach a point that 4th is no longer useable.

If it’s crunching, then unfortunately it needs to come out for a rebuild mate. You could try refreshing the oil, but it will only help for a while as the damage has already been done. They all end up doing the crunching eventually mate, and ultimately it’s a hot hatch so they’ve all seen a bit...

Did some solos last night and managed to get all the way to the penultimate circle without my loadout. Picked that up as the circle was going for the final circle and got shot by someone on the roof of stadium. Final score was a 3rd place. Again! That’s about as far as I seem to get in solos. 😂

She needs to come out for a rebuild mate. Caps fucked as that tube is the oil feed for 5th gear - as is the plastic piece. That bearing is missing a roller!

Ah happy days mate! Yeah that bolt should be 80nm and they also need loctite on them. See that bolt coming lose on the 089 quite regularly tbh.

The selector lever might be stopping it mate. Worth a try before the box is pulled.

Push it back down and hope the plunger in the box hasn’t dropped out. There’s a metal clip under that hub as well. You’ll have to spring the clip back inside the selector hub.

It’s in 5th gear in that picture, so that may be your issue. Pull the shaft out so the selector hub and centre slider are sitting flush. DON’T pull the shaft out to far otherwise you’re into another world of pain.

If there’s oil in it, it’ll piss all out the hole mate

If there’s no oil in the box, take the spring loaded plunger out (16mm socket/spanner flats) and see if that makes 5th feel any better. It’s right next to the selector on the box, so you can’t miss it.

@Cub. @Ant1 @withoutabix - gents cheers for telling me what spec to run on the m13! Was running it this evening with my mate from work, and whilst we got a pretty s**t 17th place, I managed to get 5 kills with it (2 team wipes were 4 of them), so I was pretty f**king chuffed to say the least...

Oilways in the head for the 197 are different for the dephaser. You need to be careful as you get more advance with the 197 dephaser than the 172

Gen90 is a ecu mate. I don’t know what would happen if you install the 197 file into the 172 ecu - if it’s even possible.

I was (I think) the first person to install a 197 head on a 172 block and run the fully variable vvt that the 197/200 runs. I ran the 197 dephaser and solenoid along with a gen90. You need to change the aspect file in the gen90 to get it to run the full vvt, but that’s something you would need...
