Pretty normal to see 20-30deg higher oil temps than coolant when your driving it hard or on track. My oil temp has been going up fast with the higher ambient temps this summer.
Water temp gauge stays in the same place most of the time but in reality the coolant temp is up and down.
80-94deg oil temps pretty normal though on cruising, in normal weather. Id expect the oil to be within a few degrees of coolant temp when driving normally. 110deg is fine if driving quick...
A little bit more missy than normal but not horrific.
It will smooth out with raised idle of a/c.
Same issue with the megane 225 when injectors need changing, id stick a new set of injectors in if not already changed.
We all used to do just fine in the old cars with no abs, dont see what the panic is not having it. No problem for a good driver, shouldnt be relying on it to pull you out the s**t at the last minute regardless.
Suspension and stoppers.
Its still April 2021 and next job on the list was to fit the Northloopcup roll correction kit. This was a simple plug and play job so was a nice easy couple of hours work.
Hubs fitted.
Offered up the custom reyland rotor and bells to the Jamsport wilwood kit. Hit a...
Ive not got a kit for the clio or meg its on the list to buy. I was thinking about drilling an old header tank cap and fit a schrader valve like i used to do on the gtt's years ago and pump up with a foot pump or similar.
I dare say yours will be ok engine wise. Stick 1bar of pressure in the header tank that will find any external leaks. I was on the verge of pressuring this up but found it straight away when removing plug.
Typically i was planning to take it to the Nurburgring in 4 weeks.
Got my Compomotive mo6 1880 refurbed in anthracite ready for the trip but was not to be. Took them down to Advance Detail in Leeds to be ceramic coated with Gtechniq crystal serum ultra. I took Jon who owns Advance Detail out in...
The bad
The bad news is that i noted a bit of white smoke on boost out of the exhaust when Shez was giving it some last Sat. Overall the engine is mostly running OK and going well, but still had 10 second misfire from cold and coolant use has not gone away.
It lured me into a false sense of...
The good, the bad and the ugly
The good first.
Took the Kangoo to The Motorist in Leeds for Vanned show last sat. Also took my Extra van and joined by my old Kangoo 172 cup.
Meet up outside my mates house for convoy down.
Random pull in off a19 to ahem water the plants. Random parking looked...
Upstream lambda is in stock megane position just after turbo. Assume last one was genuine, but never say never as bought from ebay. The new one is from a reputable company, again looks to be genuine.
Vband is better if they are the type that have the locating groove. The vband that have no locating groove are ok but not amazing. Also make sure they do not warp when welded on or they can blow.
Silicone will be fine, works better than exhaust paste. I had a slip joint on our megane milltek blow like f**k, used normal clear silicone and no blowing since. High temp not even necessary any general purpose clear will do. Dont use it pre lambda as it can knacker it.
Updates
Kangoo started misfiring from cold last week. Its done it intermittently for a while but just a couple of pops, but had developed into a 5-10 sec misfire and rough idle.
Changed plugs for bcr8es last week and comp tested it, still 160psi per cylinder so all seemed ok. Plugs did not...
Its April 2021, things are moving but its all slow. Weather is starting to pick up, ive got the Megane r26 Kangoo Compact running and road legal, the pressure is off slightly as shaking it down and finishing small jobs before its mapping date in May. Start chipping away at smaller jobs on the...
Used to be a major issue if you mixed synthetic and mineral in the early days but i believe its not too bad now, id never try it though.
My ocd says that in something decent id use same brand and grade exclusively, however if its drinking oil then anything is better than none at all for people...
I would change it myself as could have anything in.
Usually no issues mixing semi/fully synth together regardless of brand and grade though, only have issues mixing synthetic with mineral, but f**k all modern runs mineral so wouldnt be too concerned.
Update
Had to resurrect the old kangoo 172 cup for my mate the other day. Hes neglected the poor thing and its been sat on a drive not used for ages but partly due to the gearbox being a little bit poorly and ive not had time to change it for him.
At mot in January he had a carry on getting it...
Ive had a few stuck injectors giving a misfirey first start on the last couple of first startups after rebuild/long layup. Had to fire carb cleaner through some c20let injectors to get them going while giving the injector 12v to trigger recently, pikey injector clean
Fuel the fire.
So next thing i looked at was the fuel system. Steve had previously mounted the fuel reg on the end of the cam cover, but had decided to move it to another location next to the top engine mount.
Rail with gauge and bosch sensor fitted for fuel pressure.
Reg next to top engine...
I recently refitted the lower bumper tray under the intercooler on the Trophy. Made a fair difference to charge temps as before with the air escaping around the core it was 8-9deg above ambient temp, and now its 5deg above ambient.
Well worth refitting as much ducting as poss as air is lazy...
Updates
Give the orange dci a good clean up. Its been neglected a bit in the cleaning department recently, been used for tip runs and allsorts so was looking a bit sad.
Headlamps needed a polish as had went yellow, good 2 bucket wash, coat of oldskool collinite 476s wax, AG trim gel and...
