Thanks mate!
To do your own gearbox isn't that hard if you know how to get the box apart and you have a basic understanding of how these things work. Tools wise @not normal dan has seen me strip one with an impact gun, various sockets, hammer, drift and a blow torch. Lol!
The worst part is...
Should be ok then. Just make sure you remove the anti squeal shims from the caliper and grind the ends of the pads down to give you 1-1.5mm clearance between the pad and caliper carrier.
Fast road or trackday? For fast road yellow stuff ain't that bad tbf. Trackdays, no thanks! I had mine fade on me at the 'Ring and it was not a nice situation to be in.
Unfortunately mate they brought it on themselves by putting a s**t product out in the marketplace. It takes years to build up a good name and only seconds to destroy it. Gaz have a lot of reputation rebuilding to do imo.
Unfortunately bilsteins are too soft imo for track work. Blinding bit of kit for fast road though. @Cub. will no doubt back this comment up.
Yeah I agree with this 100%. You'd be getting them refurbed every year!
Done a few more bits and pieces today. Thanks to the ridiculously massive carbon airbox and the pms manifold, the original header tank stands more chance of getting a w**k off the pope than it does fitting in the engine bay. So I decided to drastic measures were required. See if you can spot...
Hub wise, non gave a wider front track width mate. The wider track width comes from the subframe and wheel offsets.
Only the 60mm spacing hubs had the larger bearings. They also have different steering arms cast on to the hub so they have improved Ackerman angle.
Yeah definitely mate. Your restricted size wise anyway on the laminovas, but they are very effective. Mine used to be in residence cooling my quaife straight cut box, so it only seems right that it's being utilised in my new project. Same goes for the twin fans.
Yes mate. It's going in the coolant pipe that comes out of the engine to the rad. It's not ideal in terms of maximum cooling efficiency of the engine oil, but it'll hopefully be minimal.
They should be positioned on the rad outlet ideally. I couldn't be arsed to try and package it in there and...
Assuming you can get one of the gear sets off gripper your talking about 3.5k I think, possibly more. There's an Italian company that do them as well for reasonable money too. Your still talking 2.5k though. http://www.bacciromano.com/?p=prodotti&l=eng&cat1=24&cat2=51&mar=8
oh I'm a masterchef alright! I can make a meal out of anything! Flol
yeah tbf it's come out really well and it was also on a economy wash at 50 degrees! That's obviously the secret! Lol!
Thanks for the kind words.
Main reason for not going straight cut is cost. They're so expensive for these...
I got home from work at 6:45 and removed it whilst the wife was still in bed!
Yeah it wants to be as well for what it's all cost!!! Lol! f**king chocolate Renault gearboxes!
It's come out really well tbf - not brand new looking, but for a 12yr old part it's come up really well. Here's...
